Tattoo is one of the oldest, most personal art forms, blending bodily ornamentation with a deep-rooted expression of identity and community. From the traditions of Polynesia (the word “tattoo” deriving from the Samoan word Tatau) celebrating ancestry and life events, to symbols of gang affiliation or naval service, tattoos carry shared meanings and stories that are taken with a person for the rest of their lives. In the Circumpolar regions of North America, tattoos are a female rite of passage that marks important events in a woman’s life, such as the transition from girlhood to womanhood, or the birth of a child. Many indigenous cultures are making efforts to destigmatize tattoos in colonized regions of the world, as in New Zealand, as a way for Māori to reclaim their cultural identity.

They invite photographers to enter their images to INTERIORS - spaces that define their lives. This exhibition invites you to showcase your unique perspective on the private and public spaces that define everyday lives.

Art Through The Lens 2025 is open to all without restrictions on content. It provides photographers an outlet for their art, encouragement for growth in their vision and presentation and cash rewards for works of exceptional merit. Each year from the works submitted, 50-70 images are selected for exhibition by a highly qualified juror. $1,000 in cash awards will be given to works of high merit. Art Through The Lens 2025 will be on display from July 29th – September 13th.

MANGO Residencia para Artistas (Buenos Aires – Argentina), in collaboration with Moku Art Studio (Los Angeles – U.S.), proposes a program where the objective is: a shared virtual exploration with and among artists to create a personal project that will have a virtual exhibition, connecting with the ocean. This program has been recently incorporated by UNESCO – Ocean Decade as an official activity. The creative process is enriched through shared experience. Opened to all artists disciplines! The program has a duration of 5 virtual meetings (1 per week) + 1 “Virtual Open Studio” which will also serve as the opening of the virtual exhibition. During the program, the artist must develop an artistic project. It should consider, in some aspect (whether technical, conceptual, reective, or experiential), the theme: “Ocean”.

BigCi is an independent, artist run, not for profit artist residency program focusing on artists’ professional development and facilitating their projects. Because of their location on the edge of Wollemi National Park within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains, many of their resident artists are particularly interested in projects that explore environmental or ecological issues, while others use their natural surroundings as a source of creativity. All residents have opportunities to take part in bushwalks conducted by Yuri Bolotin, an experienced mountain guide and author, and to learn first-hand about the unique natural environment of the area. Artists-in-residence are able to present their work during a BigCi Open Day that usually takes place at the end of their stay.

The Menokin Foundation is seeking artists to propose & create an outdoor art installation to be temporarily displayed for 1 year on Menokin’s grounds that revolves around the theme of self-emancipation. Proposed artwork meant for indoors will also be accepted, but indoor space is limited.
Menokin defines “self-emancipation” as an act where one exerts autonomy over their lives under oppressive circumstances.
Many identities and histories are housed on Menokin that the artist may use as inspiration to explore the theme of self-emancipation. Menokin’s natural landscape and built environment should be considered in the artist’s proposal. The artist may also reflect upon their own identity, personal history, & connections to America and what liberty, equality, & sovereignty means to them.

City of Melbourne’s Annual Arts Grants and Residencies Program is now open. Artists and arts organisations are invited to apply for one of the following opportunities. Annual Arts Grants – Up to $20,000 is available for arts projects that deliver a public outcome, either online or at a venue within City of Melbourne in 2026. Open to individual artists, groups, and small to medium arts organisations. Art Residencies – These grants provide studio spaces and facilities for artists and small to medium arts organisations to support the development of their creative practice. Residencies are available in 2026 for six or 12 months and include up to $5,000 funding for artists.

The Vilcek Foundation will award six Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in the amount of $50,000 in two categories: Fashion & Design and Fashion & Culture. In each category, three young immigrant fashion professionals who demonstrate outstanding early achievement in their field will individually receive an unrestricted cash prize of $50,000.

photoED magazine is looking to publish – in print and online - diverse interpretations on the theme “MEMORY” – which means photographic works that refer to the past, in order to move ahead towards a brighter future.

CERF+ offers Get Ready Grants, providing craft artists with grants up to $1,000 for activities to safeguard their studios, protect their practices, and prepare for emergencies. Priority is given to applicants that have been underrepresented in the craft community including BIPOC and folk/traditional artists. Eligible activities include studio safeguards, emergency/disaster readiness, business protection and support, and practice protection. To qualify for a Get Ready Grant, applicants need to be craft artists who are 18 years of age or older. They must have been living and working in the U.S. or U.S. Territories for the past two years. Additionally, they should not have received a Get Ready Grant in the previous calendar year.

An invitation for proposals from creative practitioners for a new commission responding to Lavenham Guildhall, a National Trust site in Suffolk, to explore community connections and articulate visions of the future of this historical site.

Viridian Artists Gallery is having its 33rd international juried exhibition. It will be Juried by Jim Kempner of Jim Kempner Fine Arts. Thirty artists will be selected with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes awarded. Also, included will be a Director's Choice digital exhibit to be on view during the exhibition. The deadline to submit is Tuesday, June 10th, 2025. The exhibition will run from Tuesday, July 15th to Saturday, August 9th, 2025. An opening reception will be on Thursday, July 17th from 6 to 8pm.

The Joyce Spencer Textile Awards are to support regional NSW textile artists or collectives to deliver new artworks or exhibitions. Named after the textile artist Joyce Spencer (1928 – 2019), the awards are made possible with funds from the Spencer family and Western Riverina Arts, in partnership with the Cad Factory. One Fellowship of $4000 will be awarded to a mid-career artist or group to assist in achieving their outcome. A $1500 Highly Commended Award and a $600 Prize will also be awarded. For projects delivered between July 2025 and December 2027. Round 5 Expressions of Interest will open on 30 April 2025 and close on 11 June 2025.

Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) - Winter 2026 is designed for visual artists at any stage of their career to focus on their practice in a supportive learning environment. Over five weeks, participants are encouraged to self-direct their research and time, as well as cultivate new directions in their work. The experience of artists in residence is further supported through individual studio visits with faculty, workshops, and lectures. In addition, participants have the opportunity to build community, create connections, and share their work with other artists-in-residence and the public. This program is designed for participation over the entire program period. Variable dates will not be considered.

The Australian Photographic Society’s Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize is a national $30,000 acquisitive prize that seeks to find Australia’s best conceptual photographic works. Finalists of the prize are exhibited annually at Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre with the prize-winning work joining the Muswellbrook Shire Art Collection, and a collection of contemporary photographic works acquired through the Muswellbrook Photographic Award (1987 – 2014). The Artists Gallery (TAG) invites artists based in the United States, 18 years or older, to submit artwork for TAG's July MADE IN THE USA Exhibition.

"Comics to Counterculture" is open interpretation, with various mediums accepted within the following Categories: Comics and manga, Concept, Book, Editorial Art, Illustration, Posters, 3D characters, and creatures. Artists may submit drawings, photography, printmaking, mixed media, 3D and sculpture, and digital art. Artwork dimensions, including frame, are limited to 70 H x 45 W in.

Tattoos in the US have seen a cultural shift over the past generations; from the Baby Boomer to Gen Z. This exhibition looks at the shift and welcomes the gradual social embrace of the tattoo industry and how it is beginning to become a form of not only body art, but that of contemporary fine art. This call is aiming to center the tattoo as artwork as well as the tattooist and what they may create outside of their studio practice. Whether that be flash sheets, photography of their tattoos or additional work, digital art, 2D and 3D work. See the tattoo artist not only as someone willing to break the social mold, but celebrate them as multimedia fine artists.

The Emerald Coast National (ECN) is a popular juried exhibition held annually at Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries, Northwest Florida State College. ECN, originally a regional exhibition, now includes artists from across the country. The show brings creative, inspired, and skilled artwork from working artists to NWFSC, offering rich learning and engagement for artists, students, and educators. The annual ECN programming includes opportunities for talks, demonstrations, and community engagement throughout the show’s duration.

ALL STYLES OF ART AND ALL MEDIUMS are welcome, including sound, kinetic, sculpture, photography, video, design, functional art, fiber, textile, and performance.

Sebastopol Center for the Arts invites artists to submit artworks for The Art of Play, an exhibition celebrating the themes of play, wonder, joy, freedom, and laughter. This exhibit seeks to explore the transformative power of play in art and life through a diverse range of media, including 2D and 3D works, playground-inspired structures, installations, and interactive experiences.

This call for submission is open to all artists 18 years of age or older living in the US. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all styles of artwork, i.e. realism, expressionism, abstract 2D and 3D media, including sculpture. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. No size limitations.
Photography, digital art, computer art, reproductions (such as giclee, prints) are not acceptable unless part of a mixed media artwork or collage. Film, video, AI generated art, installation art or performance art are not accepted. No crafts (such as jewelry, beads) or kit work. No artwork previously exhibited in a judged show at the NAL will be accepted.

The St. Michaels Public Art Project is seeking to commission a permanent sculpture to be positioned in the historic district at the original town center. This sculpture will be on the grounds of the St. Michaels Museum at St. Mary’s Square drawing people to the area and serving as an educational tool for children, residents and visitors. The goals for the sculpture are to promote gathering in the Square, to educate visitors on the history of the culture of St. Michaels, and to create a sense of place to those who visit. We are inviting artists, who reside in Maryland, to submit responses to this Request.

The Studio Workspace Residency is an opportunity for artists to create new work and fully immerse themselves in WSW’s supportive environment. They invite applications from artists at any stage of their careers. This residency gives artists the gift of time, an uninterrupted period to live and work away from the stresses of daily life-- while artists are still responsible for their own travel, materials, meals, and other personal incidentals while in residence, WSW provides housing and studio space at no cost. Artists receive a thorough studio orientation and are expected to work independently, although studio staff is available to provide assistance. Deep technical assistance can be arranged for an additional fee.

Essere Residency is a self-directed program designed to encourage the creative and personal growth of writers, artists and creatives of all disciplines at any stage of their career or personal self-expression. Essere means ‘to be‘ in Italian and this residency celebrates the soul of the artist with time and space to be in the tranquility and historic richness of rural Tuscany.

The Louisiana Percent for Art Program invites qualified artists or artist teams to submit their credentials for consideration in the commission of an interior artwork installation for the Civil Rights Room within the Oliver B. Spellman Library at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA. This public art project seeks to create a visually compelling and emotionally resonant piece that reflects the history, legacy, and ongoing impact of the civil rights movement while honoring Southern University’s role as a leader in social justice and educational equity.
