Reduction Woodcuts
We are continuing our PRE-PUBLISH PRICING PROGRAM on new reduction woodcuts through our gallery newsletter. The newsletter is published six times a year and allows subscribers to be the first to see new woodcuts offered below the catalog price. We reserve three reduction woodcuts out of each edition for this program. Once three prints out of the edition sell, the remaining woodcuts in the edition will sell at the catalog price.

Drawings
Executing a powerful drawing is where it begins. Many of the drawings are used as the design for a woodcut and transcribed onto a woodblock in the studio. Some woodcut designs are drawn and developed directly on the block. Don draws outside in front of his subject in three-hour sessions.
The cataloging of Don Gorvett's drawings is ongoing. Please check back for updates.
Etchings
Drypoint, an etching without acid, is a printmaking technique in which an image is drawn into a copper plate with a stylus. Once the drawing is finished, it is printed in the intaglio tradition. Another technique Don has used is direct photogravure.
Woodblocks
About the woodblocks.
Don's sense of visual beauty extends to the texture and surface of the block as it does to the print. The blocks are cut skillfully and with great care; the finished woodblock and its appearance are very important to the artist. In cutting and inking the woodblock, drawing, sculpting, and painting come together. Selected woodblocks are for sale with the purchase of the corresponding print.
