Still Life on Etching Press - Limited Edition of 16
'Still Life on the Etching Press' is one of two reduction woodcuts depicting the interior of artists' studios. On the bed of an American French Tool Etching Press rests a blue fish and a sizable one-clawed lobster shell on a platter. Beneath the platter lies a red Kilim.
You can see the press's pressure gauge, the heavy steel roller, and on the far side is the large hand wheel that moves the press bed under the steel roller. In the background, a Springer Spaniel is asleep on the parquet floor, and a leaning fishing pole.
This was Don's second design printed on his new press at Stillington Hall in 1987.
