The drawing was made with a reduction woodcut in mind. Through the drawing are notes indicating colors to be used. Don frequently walked the Marginal Way and would pause at the opening between old cedars. Among the distant cottages is the studio of prominent American artist Charles H. Woodbury (1864– 1940). The Woodbury studio reference is made in many of Don Gorvett's Ogunquit woodcuts.
