The IHRAM is seeking submissions for the next anthology in the Hear Their Voices series, highlighting the voices and stories of Maltese women. This anthology will feature artwork, photography, poetry, prose, and short stories.
We are eager to publish firsthand experiences by Maltese women, factual retellings of stories told by women in the author's life, and reflections of the writer's personal experience with gendered issues in Malta. We encourage submissions from all Maltese voices, regardless of gender identity.
The IHRAM is seeking to capture and publish the authentic Maltese voice, open conversation to the layered concerns faced by Maltese women, and respond to recent dissension around safe reproductive care, domestic violence, and legislative access against femicide.
This anthology will be curated of Maltese voices, feature Maltese artists, be designed cover-to-cover by Maltese creatives, and be ethically reviewed by Maltese editors.
Submission Guidelines:
Please submit your artwork to [email protected], along with the following information:
● Your full name and/or pen name.
● Your country of residence — i.e. current resident of Malta, past resident of Malta, raised by a Maltese guardian in another country, etc.
● A photograph of you (high-resolution with no filters)
● A brief third-person bio (2-5 sentences). If your bio includes references of your past work, feel free to provide links!
● A brief foreword to your piece, explaining your inspiration for writing the piece, background information, explanation of key characters, and any other key insight for the reader.

Our international residencies for ceramicists, visual artists and writers include a semi-private equipped studio, accommodation in the historical center of Rome, and technical assistance in procuring materials for your work, firings, etc., advice on museums, galleries and sites in Rome and beyond. The final group show gives artists an opportunity to exhibit their work produced during the residency.

For collaborative projects, two artists can share the housing and studio space in the Roman countryside. In that case, each artist will pay a reduced fee. Materials and firing costs are not included and will be deducted from the security deposit. We offer a number of additional perks such as help with travel arrangements and airport pick-ups, museum reservations etc.

The 13th Annual PleinAir Salon Art Competition is a monthly online competition consisting of 19 categories. We award $50,000 annually. Each of the 23 monthly winners are automatically included in the Annual Competition in the spring. The Annual Grand Prize winner receives $15,000 and is featured on the cover of PleinAir Magazine. We award an additional $9,200 to the annual winners and award $2,150 monthly. The annual awards are presented live at the Plein Air Convention & Expo each spring.
Because this competition is created by PleinAir magazine, which features not only plein air paintings, but also studio paintings, all types of paintings are eligible and do not need to have been completed in plein air. As we know, many studio paintings start with plein air sketches, and many plein air painters paint figures and still life. Our interest is in rewarding great paintings.

The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose.
Each year, an open-call application is made available in each of the seven active partner cities. Supporting artists equitably is a critical part of the Artadia Award process: we consider the unique populations of each community and are proud to reflect our country’s diversity with an Awardee pool that is over 50 percent female and over 40 percent persons of color.
In addition to financial support, Awardees can participate in the Artadia Network to receive structured opportunities for valuable new connections and resource sharing as well as receive a dedicated webpage on Artadia’s online Artist Registry. Connections fostered by Artadia have facilitated major steps in Awardees’ careers, such as inclusion in prominent exhibitions (e.g. five Awardees were featured in the 2017 Whitney Biennial, and six in 2019).

The health of the jewelry industry depends on the continuous flow of new talent and design creativity. It is critical that new artists also hone their business skills in order to effectively manage their small businesses in today's global market. Each summer Halstead awards a grant to a new jewelry designer working primarily in silver.
The grand prize consists of $7,500 in start-up capital and $1,000 in merchandise as well as recognition in the industry. We also recognize finalists who receive a smaller cash prize and help promoting their business. The most valuable reward the winner and finalists receive is a personalized feedback report complied with notes from all of the judges.
The Halstead Grant started in 2006 and has helped many talented jewelry artists gain a foothold in this challenging field. Past winners agree that receiving the award was a turning point early in their careers when they were wavering on whether or not the jewelry studio was the right place for them. Being singled out by the grant program affirmed their choices and gave them a push to make their business dreams a reality. We hear that the money helps a little bit too!
