We offer residencies to professional creative artists from all nations and backgrounds working in one or more of the following disciplines: choreography, film, literature, musical composition, painting, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video. Artists apply individually. Peer review is the keystone of our selection process, with different panelists each season. Residencies last from two weeks to two months and include room, board and a studio. There is no fee to come to Yaddo, and we have modest access grants to help offset the costs of attending a residency.
All artists whose work falls within the five disciplines we serve are encouraged to apply. Generally, those who qualify for Yaddo residencies are either working at the professional level in their fields or are emerging artists whose work shows great professional promise. An abiding principle at Yaddo is that applications for residency are judged solely on the quality of the work. Yaddo places no publication, exhibition or performance requirements on artists in residence.
Not only is Yaddo an equal opportunity employer—we will not discriminate against any individual, employee, or application for residency based on race, color, marital status, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, disability, or any other legally protected status recognized by federal, state, or local law—we strongly encourage applicants from backgrounds underrepresented in arts and culture to apply.
Submit seven digital images of visual artwork. Note: The Admissions Committee views images on personal computer screens and a large screen via projection. Optional: Documentary or elemental video of an installation.
For artists whose finished works are predominantly visual images - including, but not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, mixed media and installation art.

Our mission is two-fold: to offer artists the kind of professional support you deserve and to provide the public with interesting, accessible, inclusive, and professional art experiences, including performances, readings, exhibits, and workshops.
OUR COMMUNITY
Surel’s Place believes that artists should be supported at a level commensurate to the value you add to our individual and collective lives. We aim to give you the time, shelter, and professional support your work deserves. In exchange, we ask you to offer art experiences to our community. Garden City values artists and their work, and as a resident, you will be valued and appreciated for the energy, ideas, and dedication that you bring to our city.
OUR PROGRAM
The program is open to professional visual, literary, and performance artists: painters, writers, musicians, architects, filmmakers, and choreographers… any artist who needs a place to focus. However, because of the property’s limitations and proximity to neighbors, this is not a place that can accommodate loud or terribly messy processes, such as welding or blacksmithing.
We favor artists whose work is technically advanced, unique, attractive (need not be pretty!), and conceptually valuable. Work that is predominantly conceptual, that must be explained in order to attract a viewer, may not be met with as much enthusiasm by our jurists. In addition, because we ask our residents to interact with the public through one workshop and one final event, we welcome artists who desire to connect with an audience in these ways.
Additionally, each cycle, one of our five residencies includes outreach to local schools through our PARTNER Schools Program — another way we do our part to serve our community.
Surel’s Place offers month-long residencies in our one-bedroom home with a spacious studio for artists aged 25 and older to focus on their work and their creative processes. free rent free utilities free wi-fi modest living stipend of $100 per week $300 travel stipend use of well-maintained bicycles for transportation free or discounted tickets to art events and movies free marketing via our website, Facebook, targeted emails, online public calendars, and press releases free professional event hosting including catering, curating, and logistics.

Corsicana Artist and Writer Residency

- Entry Fee: 30 US Dollar
- Eligibility: International
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture
- Location: Corsicana, Texas, United States
100 West - Corsicana Artist and Writer Residency advances the production and presentation of new work and ideas by an international community of artists and writers by providing an arena of generous support and historic space.
This residency takes place fifty miles south of Dallas, Texas in the historic downtown of Corsicana. Two oil booms in the 1890s and 1920s produced an exuberant setting which declined in care and use by the late-20th century, alongside the general compromise of small-town America. Since 2012 alongside downtown rejuvenation, founders of this project have established a collection of sites – 100 West, Storefront, Anteroom, Writers House – and the Corsicana Artist & Writer Residency supports international creative work inside this architecture and narrative bridging the cultural and geographic American South and West. The Residency shares this work in programs for education, exhibition and publication to develop transformative dialogue with audiences near and far.
100 WEST is a former Odd Fellows lodge virtually unaltered since its 1890s construction, preserved and minimally furnished for intensely focused studio and living space, with pieces designed and built by founding artists in the first-floor wood shop. Across the street is ANTEROOM for window-front exhibitions, and two-blocks south is the Residency’s STOREFRONT for books and art. The WRITERS HOUSE accommodates alumni ten-blocks west of downtown.
Funding is extended to all accepted applicants and satisfies all studio and housing accommodations, following the paid $200 Administration Fee. Residents do not receive funding in the form of direct payment. Instead, funding is absorbed by the residency, and granted to residents by providing generous accommodations for studio and domestic space and residency programming. The value of funding per resident per two-month term is estimated between $4,000 and $6,000, depending on writer or artist studio accommodations and programing.
Accepted applicants who commit to a residency term are responsible for a one-time, non-refundable $200 Administration Fee paid to the residency before November 1, 2022. Residents incur no additional costs to attend.
Travel, meal and research expenses are not covered.

In 2025, the art & design theme for True/False is ALL THE TIME
We measure our lives in duration – seconds, minutes, hours – and whether we like it or not, the hands of the clock keep marching forwards. This year’s theme reflects our fascination with the framework of our existence – time. Time can feel circular, following motions and rhythms to remind us of the eternal recurrence – what has come before will come again. From ecological imprints to the inheritance of habits, we are constantly reminded that although we are in the present, the past is always with us. The Fest itself is a fleeting moment in the calendar and encourages us to embrace the ephemeral experience of coming together and make the most of every passing second.

Remembrance of Things Past
Climate change countdown
Cyclical nature of time – night and day, seasons changing, routines
“four minutes and 33 seconds”
The Earth as an archive
Duration / Endurance
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Chronos or Kairos
Rituals to mark the passing of time
Inheritance / Intergenerational
Ephemerality, temporary, fleeting
How to live in the moment

History repeats itself
Shadows (for example, sundials)
Pivotal moments

Center for Book Arts awards 4 to 6 residencies to early and mid-career artists. We welcome applications from those with little to no background in book arts as well as those who have demonstrated a commitment to book arts as a key component of their artistic practice. Successful applications should show a developed body of work and describe what the artist hopes to gain from access to the Center’s facilities. This residency is intended for the exploration of artist books and book arts to expand one’s artistic practice, rather than for finishing a preconceived project.
The purpose of this residency is to support both early and mid-career artists by providing workspace, access to new techniques and equipment, and to diversify the community of artists working within the book arts in the New York area. This year-long residency includes a cash stipend of $1500, tuition waiver for up to $6000 in courses offered at CBA during the residency period, and 24-hour access to CBA's printing and binding studios in Manhattan. Artists-in-Residence are expected to actively utilize the studios, regularly attend public programs at the Center, participate in quarterly BookTalks, and participate in a group exhibition following the residency. Residents are provided with opportunities to speak publicly about their work, to collaborate with artists and poets, and to hold studio visits with visiting curators and artists.
Because this residency is focused on artists living and working in the 5 boroughs of New York, housing is not provided. On average, Workspace Artists-in-Residence spend 20-40 hours per week in the studios. The residency is not able to support collectives or collaborations at this time. The residency will run from early January until the end of the 2025 year.

HAMBIDGE RESIDENCIES
Residency
- Submission Deadline: September 15, 2024
- Entry Fee: $30 application fee, additional residency fees may apply - financial aid available
- Eligibility: International
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture
- Location: Rabun Gap, GA 30568, United States
The Hambidge Center is situated on 600 forested acres in the mountains of north Georgia and offers miles of nature trails, meadows, waterfalls, a swimming hole and an abundance of wildflowers.
The oldest residency program in the Southeast, Hambidge provides a self-directed program that honors the creative process and trusts individuals to know what they need to cultivate their talent, whether it’s to work and produce, to think, to experiment or to rejuvenate. Residents’ time is their own; there are no workshops, critiques, nor required activities.
Each resident is given their own private studio which provides work and living space with a bathroom and full kitchen. The studios are designed to protect residents’ time, space and solitude.
Resident groups are intentionally kept small enough (8-10 people) to gather around the dinner table each evening, Tuesday through Friday, for delicious vegetarian meals prepared by our chef. These communal meals are an essential part of the Hambidge residency experience. Serious topics are discussed (and light-hearted ones, too), experiences are shared, and encouragement is given. Many a collaboration and life-long friendship have begun at the Hambidge dinner table.
Members of each resident group come from different walks of life and work in different creative disciplines; from musicians, culinary artisans and scientists, to visual artists, writers, dancers and arts & culture administrators. Each year, residents of all ages come to Hambidge from over 30 states across the U.S., as well as internationally.
Specialized equipment and facilities include the Antinori Pottery Studio, and a beautifully rebuilt turn-of-the-century Steinway grand piano housed in Garden Studio.
Accessibility - Hambidge offers two ADA-compliant studios: Brena Studio and Cove Studio. Our dining and common areas can be navigated, but are not yet fully compliant. There are no sidewalks or paved areas; the connecting driveways are gravel and uneven. If you come to Hambidge without a car, the on-campus studios will require a walk to get to Lucinda’s Rock House. On average, the studios are 0.3 miles from the Rock House with a 157-elevation gain, walking on a gravel road with uneven terrain. For more information, please contact our Office Manager at 706-746-7324.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU APPLY
The studios are comfortable, but rustic and secluded. They are purposely simple, and most are out of sight of each other and somewhat isolated.
We are located in a forested environment. Residents should expect to occasionally encounter wildlife and insects – and sometimes the insects are inside the studios.
It is very dark at night. There are no street lights or ambient light, other than the moon and stars.
Due to our remote location, there is no cell service at Hambidge. Each studio has a phone for emergency, local and incoming calls.
To encourage focused creativity, there is no internet in the studios. WiFi is available 24 hours a day in the communal space of Lucinda's Rock House.
Please thoroughly read the Guidelines, Application Instructions, and our FAQs before submitting your application.
Apply from August 1 through September 15 for the SPRING SESSION of the following year (mid-February through May).

2025 Call for Partner Institutions
In preparation for the 150th Anniversary of the historic Atelier 11 Cité Falguière, L’AiR Arts is inviting cultural, academic and arts institutions worldwide to become partners in this unique living heritage initiative by creating art residency opportunities for their candidates in Paris.
Established in 1875, Atelier 11 stands as the last surviving studio of the world’s longest-running international artists’ residency still in operation. Once a thriving L'École de Paris hub boasting home-ateliers of Gauguin, Foujita, Modigliani, Brancusi and Soutine, it hosted hundreds of French and international artists throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Recently recognized as a heritage site, Atelier 11 is scheduled to undergo rehabilitation to continue welcoming artists and cultural professionals as an International Arts Research Residency.
To celebrate the inclusive history of the École de Paris and to foster intercultural exchange, L’AiR Arts launches a global call for partner institutions interested in offering art residency opportunities for their candidates at Atelier 11 in Paris. Residents must receive support from one or more cultural partners who assume responsibility for covering the costs associated with the residency.
RESIDENT PROFILE
Atelier 11 residency program is designed for artists and cultural professionals of all ages, from all countries and all creative disciplines who wish to develop their artistic research and/or project in Paris.
RESIDENCY DURATION
Two weeks to two months
TERMS OF RESIDENCE
Partner institution(s) help to offset the costs of upkeep and preservation of the historic Atelier 11 residency, while also creating a nurturing and productive environment for the residents. Atelier 11 residency offers two individual furnished living studios, communal work and exhibition space, research library and a meeting room with a fully equipped kitchen. The residency also provides programming, communications and event support based on individual project needs. In addition to contributing towards the residency program, partner institution(s) cover the cost of return travel and provide the resident with a living allowance; they also ensure that the resident has a visa and insurance covering medical expenses and civil liability for the duration of the residency.
This living heritage project has been initiated by the L'AiR Arts and Cité Falguière Associations with the vision of establishing an International Arts Research Residency dedicated to the intercultural artistic exchange as the legacy of the École de Paris.
Built by artists for artists in the 1860s, Atelier 11 is the last preserved atelier of the historical artists community of Cité Falguière in Paris. During its 150+ years of artistic history, the Cité Falguière served as a working and living place to more than a hundred French and international artists. Once home to Amedeo Modigliani, Tsuguharu Foujita, Constantin Brancusi, Chaïm Soutine, and Paul Gauguin, it was built with connecting staircases and footbridges to foster connections among artists. Artists of Cité Falguière from different cultural and social backgrounds, such as Chaïm Soutine and Amedeo Modigliani, often shared the same atelier space that brought them closer together and provided the opportunity for exchange, encouragement and inspirations.

Tsung-Yeh Arts and Cultural Center is located in the Madou district, on the northern outskirts of Tainan City. Madou is a tranquil and leisurely small town with a laid-back lifestyle, located approximately 50 minutes drive from downtown Tainan. The cultural center as the factory and headquarter of the Japanese Meiji Sugar Manufacturing Corporation, Tsung-Yeh began operation in January 1912.
The four existing buildings have been declared by Tainan City Government as monuments for preservation, including the Red-Brick Office, the Guest House, the Red Brick Craft Hall, and the Factory Manager's Dormitory. Currently, the Red Brick Office and the Red Brick Craft Hall are provided as two exhibition halls for the resident artists to create and exhibit their works.
In 1624, the Dutch East India Company built the first city of Fort Zeelandia on the island in Anping District and established the first ruling regime in Taiwan. Through the development of Anping by the Ming Dynasty, the concentration of trade and economic bases during the Qing Dynasty, and the construction of urban planning and water conservation facilities during the Japanese Dynasty, the foundation of Tainan's urban development was laid. 2024 coincides with the 400th year of Tainan. We hope that through artistic intervention, we can record the present-day appearance of Tainan and move towards a richer and more diversified cultural city.

We are sorry to say the house is not completely adapted to persons with limited mobility access. It is on top of a hill in a medieval village. Getting to the house or to any of the stores in the village would be difficult. The rooms and studios are up two flights of stairs, though there is an elevator. The elevator cannot accommodate most wheelchairs. It is a very old house (15th century) and the floors are not even, there are small steps up and down between rooms.
A person with mobility issues can discuss with the staff their specific needs and level of mobility to see if it would be possible. Persons with some but limited mobility have been able to enjoy a month-long residency with some restrictions. Caregiver or companion is allowed in this context, but they must be a partner and willing to share the same bedroom with the fellow.

Buenos Aires is one of the busiest cities on the planet, and its artists are some of the busiest people in the world. That is why we understand that not everyone has the time to carry out a one-month residency. However, this does not change the importance of time and space for our artistic practices. The Micro-Residences are mainly aimed at completing or deepening ongoing projects / ideas / works or starting a new project. Each Micro-Residence intends to be different (as the artists are diverse) and each resident can help develop new aspects of the residence.
Take advantage of your stay in Buenos Aires to get in touch with its rich artistic community, producing art in an inspiring environment. ‘Ace gives you space and professional assistance to create new works in a short, but very intense, period of time. This format is ideal for those artists who belong to academic institutions and who do not have long periods of time to complete a full residency, since this option allows them to venture into the world of residences according to more limited time possibilities.
Because we firmly believe that diversity enriches us, the artists selected in our Micro Residencies are not discriminated against by race, skin color, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Within the broad spectrum of artistic residencies, this 5-days Micro Residence is a new concept of work that seeks significant results in a stimulating environment. This short space of time fosters informal knowledge and exchange, both for the resident and the host organization and, to some extent, between the resident and the local art scene.

Local studio artist residencies are open to local artists who wish to rent either live/work or day studios at the center for terms of 1-2 years with a possibility for renewal. We have artist studios on two campuses – on our 18th Street campus at 1639 18th Street, and the Airport campus at 3026 Airport Ave at the Santa Monica airport. On our 18th Street campus, these studios are subsidized in part by 18th Street Arts Center at far below market rate in an effort to provide local artists with affordable rental properties within Santa Monica. Our Airport campus is a city-owned building and artists lease directly with the City of Santa Monica, who set the terms for the leases on that site, with 18th Street Arts Center acting as facility and program managers. The local studio program is open to artists of all disciplines, as well as small, artist-run initiatives. When a space becomes available, applications are reviewed by an impartial jury and artists are selected at that time. Applicants should indicate their space and affordability requirements, as well as which campus they prefer.
