AMPLIFY 2026 - Spruill's Annual Outdoor Art Installation

Spruill Gallery

This year's Selection Committee seeks a vibrant public art proposal that will appeal to neighborhood residents, visitors, and business owners. The project and unveiling coincide with Dunwoody's Arts and Cultural Month. Spruill Gallery will maintain the mural's surface for 11 months, pending a new art installation project at the exact location.

The installation site is located on the side of the "Smoke House" on the Spruill Gallery grounds at 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road, facing the intersection of Ashford Dunwoody and Meadow Lane in Dunwoody, GA, in the Perimeter area. The space is currently home to A Charm of Buntings by the 2025 AMPLIFY winner, Chloe Alexander. Other recent winners include Manty Dey, Rest and Rise, 2024; Charity Hamidullah, Big Hug, 2023; Alice Stone Collins, The Forest for the Trees, 2022; and Alea Hurst, Together We Bloom, 2021.

Visual Arts in the Valley is a biennial festival featuring the prestigious Kangaroo Valley Art Prize and multiple visual art prizes. Lure of the Local 5 / Love Letters

Lure of the Local 5 is on the horizon! This year's theme is "Love Letters". Whether it inspires a brand-new piece, helps you see existing work in a new light, or simply gets ideas flowing, we invite artists to begin exploring what Love Letters might mean through their own creative lens.

Lure of the Local is an annual, curated art exhibition hosted by the Mundelein Arts Commission (MAC) that highlights the creative practices of artists who live and work among us – our teachers, neighbors, friends, and fellow community members. It is free to apply and participate, and artists of all mediums and skill levels are encouraged to apply. More details:


  • Dates: The exhibition will open on Friday, October 16, 2026 - November 22, 2026


  • Hours: Free & Open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. with programming every weekend, such as art workshops and live music. 


  • Location: Archer Business Center (175 N. Archer Avenue, Mundelein) - Located near the Metra Station and in the same building as Tighthead Brewing Company


  • Opening Reception: There is an opening reception on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 5:00-9:00 PM. Artist attendance is highly encouraged but is not mandatory. The reception features a ribbon cutting, live music, drinks, and hors d'oeuvres. Typical attendance at the reception is around 400-500 visitors. 


More about the theme:



From the quiet anticipation of writing a love letter to the joy of receiving one, this simple act captures something deeply human. Few things express longing, connection, and vulnerability quite like it; art offers a powerful way to explore those emotions.

Let this theme be a springboard for your own interpretation of what Love Letters mean to you. Your subject might be a person, a pet, a garden, a season, a favorite meal, or even a fleeting moment. What you love—and how you choose to honor it—is each artist's unique vision.

In this fast-paced age of texting, the idea of a love letter is nostalgic and tactile, present. What makes you pause in awe? What image or thing can truly embody love? Is love a fairy tale or fantasy? What artistic process do you lose yourself in like falling in love?

We look forward to seeing where this theme takes you!

Artist Residencies: The Mundelein Arts Commission (MAC) will be hosting artist residents again this year. The application for artist residencies will be posted separately by June 26th , the application deadline will be July 26 , artist will be notified by Aug 7th.  This residency will provide free art studios to those accepted from Sept 1 - Feb 1 and be part of the Love Letters Programming.


Proposals for Community Artworks
For our 10th Anniversary Year we are looking for community focused and interactive artworks to engage our visitors of all ages. Projects that consider the theme of love letters meaningfully  will be prioritized. 
Artworks must follow an  installation format,  be participatory, and  be on view for the full duration of Love Letters.

Quilt National '27

Quilt National '27 explores the expanded field of quilting, showcasing textile-based contemporary art and fiber as a medium for material inquiry. The exhibition features works that interrogate surface, structure, labor, gender, and politics, merging craft, design, and fine art while repositioning quilt-making within contemporary art discourse. The work must be composed of at least two layers and must be held together by elements that merge all layers, and are distributed throughout the surface of the artwork.

Selected award-winning quilts will be acquired by the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, and added to its Quilt National Collection. The Western Illinois University Art Gallery presents a schedule of changing exhibitions throughout the academic year to introduce WIU students, faculty and staff, as well as the western Illinois region, to a variety of art forms in a wide range of mediums. The gallery encourages visual artists to submit exhibition proposals for solo, two-person, and group exhibitions for the 2027-2028 schedule. Correlacion Contemporanea offers a four-week international artist residency program in Iquitos, Peru, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Artist Call Out: Sculpture in the Garden Wollongong 2027

Be part of one of regional Australia’s leading outdoor art experiences. Sculpture in the Garden Wollongong continues to grow as a premier biennial exhibition, attracting over 66,000 visitors in 2025 to the stunning grounds of the Wollongong Botanic Garden. Now returning for its sixth edition in 2027, applications are open to Australia-based artists working across sculpture and environmental installation. Set on Dharawal Country, in the foothills of Mt Keira (Djeera), the 27-hectare Wollongong Botanic Garden is one of the city’s most treasured green spaces. Home to diverse plant collections and rich wildlife habitats, the Garden has held a special place in the community’s heart for over 50 years.

August Salon Art Prize

PleinAir & Fine Art Connoisseur Magazines

The 16th Annual Salon Art Prize, formerly the PleinAir Salon, is an online art competition with 11 monthly cycles, and is open to a variety of mediums and styles. They invite a variety of top master artists, museum directors and gallery owners to judge each month. All monthly winners (242) are automatically included in the Annual Competition where the Grand Prize Winners each receive $15,000—one featured on the cover of PleinAir Magazine and one on the cover of Fine Art Connoisseur.

In addition to over $65,000 in all cash prizes, winners receive exposure and recognition through their various magazines, websites, newsletters and social media platforms.

Early Bird Registration ends on the 15th. Enter before the deadline to receive 25% off every entry. The regular cost is $40 for the first entry, and just $16 for each additional entry. Artists are welcome to enter as many paintings as they like, in as many categories as they like. There are 19 categories in all.

IMMORTAL Queer Art Fair - 2.0 - Dia de Muertos - & Artist Residency Programming

The Bureau of Queer Art


IMMORTAL is not a booth fair. It is a collaboratively produced exhibition platform. Every project is different, every artist's needs are different, and every participation plan is developed individually. Our goal is not to maximize fees. Our goal is to maximize visibility while ensuring the sustainability of the artists, organizers, and community that make the project possible.

The information below is organized into three areas of participation. These may be selected individually or combined during the interview process, allowing each artist to align their studio goals with the larger TBQA ecosystem.



IMMORTAL RESIDENCY
October 1–26, 2026


The IMMORTAL Residency offers artists the opportunity to live and work alongside the exhibition's development in Mexico City.


Residents receive shared studio space, curator consultations, community gatherings, gallery and museum visits, and direct engagement with the artists participating in IMMORTAL.


The residency culminates with participation in the IMMORTAL Queer Art Fair.

THE QUEER VAULT
The Queer Vault is IMMORTAL's dedicated print and small-works exhibition, created to make collecting queer art more accessible while providing artists with an additional avenue for visibility and sales.


Designed as an approachable retail-style browsing experience inspired by record shops and print fairs, The Queer Vault brings together prints, photographs, drawings, zines, publications, and small-scale works from participating artists in a single curated environment. Works are displayed in crates and browsing bins, protected in sleeves and backing boards for easy handling, encouraging visitors to flip through, discover, and purchase artwork directly. Rather than separating artists into individual booths or display areas, the Vault emphasizes discovery, allowing visitors to encounter a broad range of voices, aesthetics, and perspectives within the fair's larger ecosystem.


Works in The Queer Vault are intended to be approachable for emerging collectors while maintaining the same curatorial standards that define the broader IMMORTAL exhibition. Visitors may discover an artist through a print, publication, or small work and then continue exploring their larger practice throughout the fair.


The Queer Vault reflects one of TBQA's core beliefs: collecting art should not be reserved for a privileged few. By creating an entry point for new collectors, we strengthen the sustainability of queer artists, expand audiences, and encourage the growth of a more inclusive cultural economy.


Participating artists may submit prints and small works independently or alongside larger presentations elsewhere in IMMORTAL. Details regarding editions, pricing, and display requirements will be discussed during the participation planning process.

Held during Día de Muertos, IMMORTAL gathers Queer artists across borders to stand with memory — not as decoration, but as inheritance. We build space for what survives us.

In its first edition, artists described IMMORTAL as an accelerated residency. Three days that felt like weeks. Conversations that bypassed small talk. Collaborations that crossed countries. Work that changed in the presence of other work.

IMMORTAL functions commercially.
It behaves communally.
It leaves residue.

An application fee is required. The early-round fee has been lowered to broaden access while sustaining this artist-led platform.

IMMORTAL is not only about visibility.
It is about proximity.
About Queer artists building infrastructure together.
About compressing time so that the connection happens faster than the world expects.

arteNXT™ showcases exceptional emerging, mid-career, and established artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, drawing, printmaking, digital art, AI-assisted art, installation, textile art, ceramics, glass, and other contemporary visual media within a professionally curated gallery environment.


Artists worldwide are invited to apply for the opportunity to exhibit during Miami Art Week™ 2026 and become part of this distinguished international community. Gallery representation is not required. Smaller works or alternative arrangements may also be accommodated, provided they fit comfortably within the allotted exhibition space and comply with gallery installation guidelines.


Artwork may be installed up to two high, subject to gallery installation requirements.




Tier II – Secondary Gallery Location — $1,099


Approximately 5 linear feet of professionally curated exhibition wall space, typically accommodating:

  • One artwork up to 48 inches wide; or

  • Two artworks up to approximately 24 inches wide each.

Smaller works or alternative arrangements may also be accommodated, provided they fit comfortably within the allotted exhibition space and comply with gallery installation guidelines.


Artwork may be installed up to two high, subject to gallery installation requirements.




Optional Space Upgrade


Increase your exhibition space to approximately 6 linear feet for an additional 20% of the above applicable exhibition fee.


The upgraded space typically accommodates:

  • One artwork up to 60 inches wide; or

  • Two artworks up to approximately 30 inches wide each.

Smaller works or alternative arrangements may also be accommodated, provided they fit comfortably within the allotted exhibition space.

Premium exhibition locations near the gallery entrance are available in limited quantities.

Each December, Miami Art Week™ transforms Greater Miami into the center of the art world, bringing together more than 20 art fairs, over 1,200 galleries, and thousands of artists, collectors, curators, and photography enthusiasts from around the globe.


Produced and managed by Miami Art Week, LLC, photoMIAMI® is an official Miami Art Week™ exhibition and the event's only dedicated photography exhibition, celebrating the power, diversity, and innovation of contemporary photography.


photoMIAMI® showcases exceptional emerging, mid-career, and established photographers working across fine art photography, documentary, portraiture, landscape, street photography, conceptual photography, experimental processes, digital imaging, AI-assisted photography, mixed-media photographic works, and other contemporary photographic practices within a professionally curated exhibition environment.


Photographers worldwide are invited to apply for the opportunity to exhibit during Miami Art Week™ 2026 and become part of this distinguished international community. Gallery representation is not required. Exhibition Space

Tier I – Standard Exhibition Space — $1,299


Approximately 5 linear feet of professionally curated exhibition wall space, typically accommodating:

  • One artwork up to 48 inches wide; or 

  • Two artworks up to approximately 24 inches wide each. 

Smaller works or alternative arrangements may also be accommodated, provided they fit comfortably within the allotted exhibition space and comply with gallery installation guidelines.


Artwork may be installed up to two high, subject to gallery installation requirements.




Tier I – Space Upgrade — $1,499


Approximately 6 linear feet of professionally curated exhibition wall space, typically accommodating:

  • One artwork up to 60 inches wide; or 

  • Two artworks up to approximately 30 inches wide each. 

Smaller works or alternative arrangements may also be accommodated, provided they fit comfortably within the allotted exhibition space and comply with gallery installation guidelines.


Artwork may be installed up to two high, subject to gallery installation requirements.



Exhibition space assignments are made upon acceptance and are subject to availability. Final placement and installation are determined by Exhibition Management to ensure a cohesive and professionally curated presentation.

HALE ARTIST IN RESIDENCY

The Hale Master of Fine Art Residency funds artists who either have recently graduated (within 5 years) from or are currently enrolled in an MFA graduate program. This month-long residency is designed for an artist whose work explores aesthetic beauty. The Hale MFA Residency provides space and time for artists to focus solely on their work. There is no expectation to teach, exhibit, or present work. Hale Residencies take place only during the months of January, February, and March. There is no expectation for the resident to teach, but they do encourage exhibition and other community engagement.

Small Works

Northville Art House presents a juried exhibition featuring diminutive-scale artworks, 16 inches or less including frame, across diverse media. Residency Applications Opens for the 2026 Fall Term

The Enso Circle Artist Residency

The Enso Circle is a 12 week online artist residency for artists ready to bring sustained focus to a meaningful conceptual goal. Within a small, thoughtfully curated community, Residents deepen their studio practice, clarify their artistic voice and create a cohesive body of work. Michelle and Lyn work together with the Residents offering mentorship, weekly Zoom gatherings, creative prompts, process troubleshooting and ongoing support through a private Slack community. Residents also receive videos, written resources, selected online workshops and access to a private resource library. Since 2021, artists from five countries and twenty states have joined this shared practice of inquiry, reflection and growth. The Residency culminates in a group exhibition and professionally designed catalog.

A Live Portrait Competition


The Depot Arts District and Notta Gallery are proud to present the inaugural Florida Art Masters, a live portrait painting competition celebrating artistic skill, creativity, and the excitement of creating from life.


Sixteen artists from across the country will be selected to compete in four live preliminary heats, each featuring a live portrait model. During ethe four-hour competition, artists will paint from observation while spectators watch the creative process unfold. A panel of three judges will provide feedback and select one artist from each heat to advance to the Grand Finale, where one artist will be crowned the first Florida Art Master.


Whether your work is traditional, contemporary, expressive, or abstract, we encourage artists working in any non-digital medium to apply.

The Liu Shiming Art Foundation offers project-based grants to support artists pursuing new creative work. Surel's Place Artist-in-Residence

The program is open to professional visual, literary, and performance artists: painters, writers, musicians, architects, filmmakers, and choreographers… any artist who needs a place to focus. However, because of the property’s limitations and proximity to neighbors, this is not a place that can accommodate loud or terribly messy processes, such as welding or blacksmithing. Work that is predominantly conceptual, that must be explained in order to attract a viewer, may not be met with as much enthusiasm by their jurists. In addition, because they ask their residents to interact with the public through one workshop and one final event, they welcome artists who desire to connect with an audience in these ways.

Hambidge Residencies (Spring Session)

"The Hambidge Center is situated on 600 forested acres in the mountains of north Georgia and offers miles of nature trails, meadows, waterfalls, a swimming hole and an abundance of wildflowers.

The oldest residency program in the Southeast, Hambidge provides a self-directed program that honors the creative process and trusts individuals to know what they need to cultivate their talent, whether it’s to work and produce, to think, to experiment or to rejuvenate. Residents’ time is their own; there are no workshops, critiques, nor required activities.

Each resident is given their own private studio which provides work and living space with a bathroom and full kitchen. The studios are designed to protect residents’ time, space and solitude.

Resident groups are intentionally kept small enough (8-10 people) to gather around the dinner table each evening, Tuesday through Friday, for delicious vegetarian meals prepared by our chef. These communal meals are an essential part of the Hambidge residency experience. Serious topics are discussed (and light-hearted ones, too), experiences are shared, and encouragement is given. Many a collaboration and life-long friendship have begun at the Hambidge dinner table."

Queering Wood Craft

“Queer” is used today as both a descriptor of identity and a verb conjuring subversion. Both represent a challenge, whether to normative structures or conventional intimacies. This exhibition, with a working title, Queering Wood Craft, will highlight the work of queer-identified makers working in wood, and be both exploration and celebration of the dynamic intersections between contemporary work in wood and the multiple meanings of queer. Artist participants will explore the history of this craft through a queer lens, making one visible to themselves and rendering a more complex understanding of queer lives, labor, and communal and familial relationships. Integral to humanity’s experience for centuries and across continents, woodworking has an essential role that is distinct and multifaceted. They invite artists and makers who work in wood—building furniture, turning, carving, or otherwise using wood as the primary material in their work—to submit their work for consideration. The exhibition will take place at the Museum for Art in Wood from late May-late July 2027.

Creative Glass Fellowship Program at WheatonArts

The Creative Glass Fellowship Program at WheatonArts has awarded fellowships to artists working in glass for close to forty years. Over 365 professional and emerging artists from the U.S. and over 26 foreign countries have been recipients of Creative Glass Fellowships. Artists are encouraged to use their fellowships to develop and refine their work while experimenting with both traditional and innovative glassmaking processes.

Redland Art Awards 2026

The Redland Art Awards is a nationally recognized biennial contemporary painting competition. The primary award is an acquisitive prize with additional runner-up awards.
