The Full Fellowship Award for 2026 includes accommodations, studio space and two meals each day for the two week duration of the residency at no cost to the artist. The artist is responsible for their own travel to the residency, and daily stipend for any groceries, art supplies or excursions outside of the village. The Mudhouse Residency will sponsor two Full Fellowships for the 2026 season. The Full fellowship is determined by a selection committee based on the merit of the applicants' work.

Artists are encouraged to apply to both the Full Fellowship Award and the General Application. The Full Fellowship Award is very competitive, in 2025 it received 400 applications for two awards. Artists who apply for the Full Fellowship award will not be automatically considered for the General application, the General Application is determined by a separate selection committee under different guidelines. The Town of Putnam, in collaboration with the Putnam Arts Council (PAC) and the Putnam Business Association (PBA), is seeking proposals for three permanent outdoor sculptures to be installed along Main Street in Downtown Putnam. These sculptures will replace former tree sites and are intended to reflect the town's creativity and natural heritage.

Compensation of up to $4,000 is available per sculpture, which includes design, fabrication, and transportation.

The Parenting Artist Residency is designed specifically for parenting artists with dependants between two and twelve years old; children and partners are welcome. Through an open call, this residency will allow participating artists to develop new work, progress existing projects, or return to their practice after taking time to have children. This residency offers childcare, a stipend of €500, accommodation, and meals.

This residency aims to provide a platform that is notably missing from existing offerings, fostering solidarity among artists who often end up isolated and alienated from existing art structures because of having a family.

This year they are seeking a Residency Teaching Artist (RTA) and Residency Teaching Artist Assistant (RTAA) position. The RTAA position is designed explicitly for Atlas Alumni who have completed ART 180’s teen programs and have a desire to become emerging teaching artists. The RTAA supports the lead RTA and youth participants, gaining hands-on experience in facilitation, classroom management, and creative leadership. Together, RTAs and RTAAs co-create a studio environment where art becomes both practice and purpose, fueling confidence and connections; sustainable paths essential for personal and communal growth. Supported by ART 180 staff and partners, the Residency Teaching Artist (RTA) serves as the lead instructor and creative mentor for the Atlas Artist Residency, a 9-week summer program for emerging youth artists ages 14-19 seeking to develop their skills, portfolios, and creative identities. This position requires a practicing artist with demonstrated teaching experience, effective studio/classroom management skills, a passion for youth development, and a commitment to community-based creative practice. A highlight of the University of Wyoming Art Museum’s exhibition program, the 51st Annual Juried University of Wyoming Student Exhibition presents the artwork from selected University of Wyoming students. The City of Roanoke is seeking at an artist or artist team to exhibit sculpture at a new plaza adjacent to the Wasena Bridge running from the opening of the new bridge in Summer 2026 through April 2029.

The City is accepting submissions now through Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern for freestanding sculpture that complements and celebrates the investment in the new Wasena Bridge and related traffic improvements.

This invitation is extended to all artists 18 and older or supervised student groups under an applicant instructor or institutional program. Innovative approaches are welcomed, including the establishment of partnerships between emerging and established artists or between artists and fabricators. Both proposed work and already completed pieces will be considered. ArtWorks is the metro Cincinnati region’s only year-round, workforce development program in the arts. Since launching in 1996, ArtWorks has hired over 4,000 youth (ages 14-24, the majority of whom identify as BIPOC and come from historically marginalized communities) and 3,000 professional artists to create public art projects that instill civic pride and an elevated quality of life for all. The youth apprentice program addresses unemployment for young artists from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing career exploration, work skills, and social and emotional learning that cultivates the confidence young people need to pursue education and career opportunities. As the primary generator of public art in Greater Cincinnati and the largest employer of visual artists, their mission is to create community-based public art. ArtWorks has created over 300 large-scale outdoor murals and thousands of other art outcomes across Greater Cincinnati. The City of Loveland Art in Public Places program seeks artists for The Art Advocacy Project 2D (commonly known as TAAP 2D) in the Loveland Public Library’s Central Galleria. Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center (EHHM) is pleased to announce the 2026 Annual JURIED Exhibition. This competitive exhibition is open for works currently being made by established and emerging artists, 18 years or older. EHHM, 82 N. Broadway, Nyack, NY, is located in the family home of iconic American artist Edward Hopper (1882-1967). The EHHM fuels the creative legacy of one of America's most influential painters through changing exhibitions, education programs, and community outreach. Located just over 30 miles north of New York City in a charming Hudson River village in Rockland County, the EHHM is a major cultural anchor and tourism driver for the Hudson Valley and metropolitan area.

The City of Olympia is seeking up to 18 loaned sculptures from Washington and Oregon state artists for temporary outdoor exhibition on Percival Landing, a waterfront park at the southernmost end of the Puget Sound in view of the state capitol located in Olympia, WA. Selected artists receive a $1,000 honorarium for the one-year loan of their work and are eligible for consideration for the Peoples’ Prize purchase award of up to $10,000, where one sculpture is selected for purchase by public vote and added to the City’s public art collection.

The annual painting competition returns to the National Portrait Gallery for 2026, celebrating the best in contemporary portraiture. One of the most important platforms for portrait painters today, the competition showcases the variety of approaches to portraiture and encourages artists to focus upon, and develop, the theme of portraiture in their work.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens invites proposals for large-scale, light-based art for GLEAM, Art in a New Light, a public art exhibition situated within a 16-acre Midwest landscape or 10,000 sq ft tropical conservatory. The 2026 GLEAM exhibit will focus on light-based art concepts that present a captivating environment, offer creative play experience, and bring to light creatures of all shapes and sizes, real and imaginative. The Sedona Entrepreneurial Artist Development Program (SEAD) is a 2-day intensive opportunity that empowers visual artists to see their creative practice through an entrepreneurial lens. The SEAD curriculum explores tools to organize, plan, and sustain a creative career, with the goal of developing an individualized business plan to prepare each artist to take their creative endeavors to the next level. The Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, NY, invites artists to submit work for our fifth annual juried exhibition of Art that Matters to the Planet.

Art that Matters to the Planet explores the ways in which art and artists matter – by drawing us into a deeper relationship with nature, opening hearts and minds to the critical challenges of our time and inspiring us to the solutions we need to address those challenges.

Each year, the theme for this exhibition draws inspiration from the work of Roger Tory Peterson, typically his series of field guides. Our 2026 theme, inspired by A Field Guide to Wildflowers, is titled Art that Matters to the Planet: Beyond Beauty. This exhibition will focus on flowering plants across the country and what they can teach us through the dual lenses of science and art. More than just a pretty face (Stamen? Pistil? Calyx?), flowers play vital roles ecologically, biologically, culturally and spiritually.

The International Watermedia Exhibition (IWE) is one of two juried exhibitions held annually, the other being the Annual Members Exhibit (AME). Whereas AME is open to only WAS-H members, IWE showcases the excellence of watermedia artists from as far away as Australia, Bulgaria, China, Germany, India and the Netherlands. Selected by a renowned juror and judge, the paintings receive exposure in a month-long, open-to-the-public gallery exhibit as well as an online exhibit that lasts through the end of the year. Winning participants receive substantial cash awards.
