Contemporary Drawing
Exhibition
- Submission Deadline: September 6, 2023
- Event Dates: October 27, 2023 - January 19, 2024
- Entry Fee: $15
- Eligibility: International
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture
- Location: Wyoming
The Art Gallery at Western Wyoming Community College is pleased to accept submissions for Contemporary Drawing. Drawing occupies a unique space in the contemporary art world. The immediacy of many drawing media can allow for an expressiveness that is often difficult to capture in other artistic disciplines. Historically, drawn works have occupied a place of lesser value or significance than works of other media. Cotemporary art and artists, however, challenge this notion. Contemporary Drawing will showcase works that speak to current issues, explore fresh perspectives within the discipline, or generally demonstrate the breadth of possibilities available while working--either partially or fully--within the idiom of drawing.
An international call for artists who include drawing processes in their work. This exhibition will showcase how traditional drawing approaches are being expanded on to give voice to a wide spectrum stylistic and conceptual outcomes.

The Design Trust for Public Space is looking for photographers to apply for its Photo Urbanism Fellowship. This year's fellow will work with the Green Space Connections project, documenting community-designed green space at NYC public housing developments. The fellowship includes a $15,000 stipend and a solo exhibition.
Program Overview:
We believe that photography is vital to understanding our shared environment and is a powerful tool for illuminating the city’s complex public realm. The Photo Urbanism Program was founded in 2001 to support the creation of new work that explores New York City’s public space. The 2023-2024 Photo Urbanism Fellow will create a self-driven photography project with NYCHA’s open spaces and the variety of ways residents use them. The role of the Photo Urbanism Fellow is to use artistic and journalistic photography/videography to capture the human, personal narratives that exist in these spaces.
Job Description:
The Photo Urbanism Fellow will dedicate 5% of their fellowship to administrative tasks such as attending meetings, invoicing, and tracking expenses; 20% of the fellowship to provide mentorship to young photographers; the remaining 75% will be to developing project work, including, but not limited to, photographing, editing images, developing programming, and exhibition planning.

Color has always possessed a dual nature, representing the heights of feeling and emotion while at the same time seen as a scientific, empirical phenomenon, arising from the physical world. Color, as an independent visual language, exploded in contemporary art, moving beyond the binary of spiritual truth and nature, and into the worlds of advertisement, repetition, and digital life more broadly. What is the role of color today? Site:Brooklyn is looking for artists whose work engages with this question.

The City of Rome is requesting proposals from any professional artist or artist teams for a Sculpture or Installation for the West Dominick Street Art District. West Dominick Street is a major commercial corridor that is home to a number of small businesses and a vibrant art community within downtown
Rome. This roadway provides residents and visitors access to the Capitol Theatre Complex, restaurants, cafes and art studios. Due to the large presence of the arts and cultural district, the Erie Boulevard BOA recommended public art installations be sited along West Dominick Street as a way to promote the art community and rich history within the City of Rome.
After successfully receiving funding from the New York State Department of State under the Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program, the City is now able to implement this portion of the Erie Boulevard BOA and will site additional art installations to enhance the Art Walk Corridor in the West Dominick Street Arts District. The project seeks to use strategic placemaking via art as a way to strengthen the downtown district, ultimately attracting more visitors and residents. See RomeRises.com/w-dominick-art-walk for more details.
The City of Rome is seeking an artist or team of artists to create permanent artwork to be installed in up to two (2) locations along West Dominick Street.
