Wassaic Project is accepting applications for two upcoming fellowships: the Print Fellowship and the Sculpture Fellowship. The part-time Print Fellow lives and works in Wassaic, NY, for six months, managing our print shop, providing support on projects by artists-in-residence, and producing prints with ten artists throughout the summer. The Sculpture Fellow manages the wood and ceramic shops and helps support programming, including the residency program, exhibitions, and artist presentations.

Art Jewelry Forum (AJF) is pleased to announce the 2023 Susan Beech Mid-Career Artist Grant opportunity for mid-career artists. The purpose of this grant, established by San Francisco-based jewelry collector Susan Beech, is to recognize a mid-career artist who has made a substantial contribution to the field and to provide resources to develop and implement a significant jewelry-related project that the artist would not otherwise have the ability to undertake.

International Deadline: January 5, 2023 – The OSUN Center for Human Rights & the Arts (CHRA) invites applications for two one-year research and teaching fellowships in human rights and the arts for the 2023–24 academic year.
Scholars, artists, and activists with teaching experience and a research project are eligible to apply. The 2023–24 fellowships cover a period of one year, i.e. two academic semesters, from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. The positions are based at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, where residency is expected during the course of the academic semester. Fellowships include a full-time salary (65,000. USD), health benefits, and a research budget. Fellows are expected to participate in the academic life of Bard and the Open Society University Network, pursue their own research, and contribute to the CHRA’s public programs.

The City of Davis Arts & Culture Grants for Individual Artists is a one-time grant program created to aid those who had a practice or career in the arts in Davis and were negatively affected by the impact of COVID-19 on the arts sector. Grants are funded by the City of Davis from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The goal of the grant is to stabilize the City’s nonprofit arts & culture sector by assisting and retaining motivated individuals

New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is proud to partner with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation to administer a new emergency grant program called Rauschenberg Emergency Grants. Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to: hospital and doctor bills (including insurance co-pays), tests, physical/occupational therapy, prescription drugs specifically for the emergency medical condition, and emergency dental work.

Wave Farm’s Media Arts Assistance Fund for individual artists provides support for the completion and/or public presentation of new works in all genres of sound and moving image art, including emergent technology. New York state artists may apply for up to $7,500. Women, gender non-conforming people, and people of color are encouraged to apply.

Art Council of England’s DYCP supports individuals who are cultural and creative practitioners and want to take time to focus on their creative development. In the most recent round of DYCP, 824 individuals and freelancers were supported to reshape and redefine their work during the pandemic.

Adolph Gottlieb, one of the artists known for initiating the Abstract Expressionism movement, achieved artistic and financial success far beyond his early expectations. But, he had several colleagues who, despite their artistic achievements, were not able to support themselves financially. The Gottlieb Foundation wishes to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success.

NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowships, awarded in fifteen different disciplines over a three-year period, are $8,000 cash awards made to individual originating artists living and working in the state of New York for unrestricted use. These fellowships are not project grants but are intended to fund an artist’s vision or voice, regardless of the level of his or her artistic development.

The Virginia A. Groot Foundation established the Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant in 1988 so that a ceramic sculpture or sculpture artist may have the opportunity to devote a substantial period of time to the development of their work. Each year, the Virginia A. Groot Foundation offers three grants (up to $60,000, $30,000, $20,000) to artists who have exceptional talent and demonstrated ability in ceramic sculpture or sculpture. Artists may be at any stage of career development, from emerging through mature.

Artist Entrepreneurial Grants support opportunities that will benefit artists’ careers and small businesses, including the development of business skills, participation in programs to raise the level and quality of their art, and participation in programs that will bring their art to the widest possible programs. Individual professional New Hampshire artists, makers, and creatives, 18 years of age or over, who devote a majority of their time to practicing, performing, and/or teaching an arts discipline. Applicants must also have been in New Hampshire for one full year and still be residents at the time grants are awarded may apply. 

Scotland The Visual Artist and Craft Makers Awards (VACMA) are a program of small grants schemes delivered with a range of local authorities and art agencies across Scotland to support Scotland-based visual artists and craft makers in their creative development. Established by Creative Scotland, these partnerships give support at a local level and work with local panels to offer funds to support practitioners at all stages of their career who have demonstrated a commitment to their work and in developing their practice through new work, new skills or new opportunities. Arts Missoula is pleased to provide individual artists up to $2,500 in unrestricted grant funds to help establish, grow, and sustain a Missoula-based livelihood in the arts. Grants are focused on community-building through the arts, providing financial assistance for individual artists living in Missoula County, whose creative work connects with and enriches the community.

The Circ Artist Grant is open to emerging, mid-career, and professional artists in an international open call.

The Circ Artist Grant provides unrestricted funding to artists with a demonstrated commitment to their artistic work. Two artists per grant cycle are awarded $850 each to enhance and further their creative practice.

The British Mycological Society's Massee Arts Grant aims to support the creation of artistic works that stimulate dialogue between artists, mycologists and the public. The total fund is £10,000 per annum, a maximum of £5,000 per project. Deadline for applications: 28th February 2023.

All of CENTER’s Calls for Entry opportunities accept submissions from national and international photographers and lens-based artists. Work can have been made at any time and work that has been submitted previously may be re-submitted as we have new jurors each year. Work derived from all photographic processes is accepted, as well as mixed media that is photo-based.

The LIFT – Early Career Support for Native Artists program will provide critical support to early-career Native artists with one-year awards to develop and realize new projects. The program encourages artists to uplift communities, advance positive social change, point courageously toward environmental sustainability, and foster communal meaning-making. The program will consist of a suite of activities that includes grantmaking, artist professional development, evaluation, and communications/marketing support. The primary objectives of this opportunity are to support artists who are developing their voices and for whom the award may serve as a launching point in their careers.

In 2022 New York Artists Equity Association (NYAE) applied and received a $10,000 grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to fund its new “Paying Artists Program” (PAP) which will award a $2,375 stipend to four artists to help fund projects at the association’s Equity Gallery. The awards will be juried by a team of three art world professionals.

This program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies to artists in financial need* who are creating in the visual arts, film/video/electronic/digital arts, and choreography. Only generative artists are eligible—artists creating their own, independent work, with recent and ongoing opportunities for the public to experience that work.

The John Fluevog Shoes Emerging Artist* Grant is intended to help emerging artists develop their skills and increase the visibility of their artwork. The winner will receive $10,000 towards their artistic work, a pair of Fluevogs, and a heap of recognition within the best community of shoe fans ever!

As makers of unique soles for unique souls since 1970, John Fluevog Shoes has long been a friend to artists of the gifted and aspiring variety. Constantly inspired by the individuals we are fortunate to call ‘Fluevogers’, both admiration and gratitude drive us to support the growth and development of such up-and-coming talent.

The Award is open to a variety of visual artistic media including but not limited to photography, textiles, painting, drawing, illustration, sculpture, mixed media, and others. Emerging artists who don’t have access to major funding are encouraged to apply.

Amy Ringholz is a contemporary wildlife painter from Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  

She received several art awards and scholarships in college that gave her the confidence to pursue her dream of being a full-time artist.  These accolades changed everything for her.  She not only felt the honor of being recognized but the courage to trust herself and pursue her art.

To return this gift, Amy started The Ringholz Art Supply Awards in 2009 to encourage visual artists of ALL AGES to go after their own dreams in art.  $1000 awards will be distributed this year to artists that through this application highlight their hard work ethic, talent, and heart.  Amy firmly believes that dreams are attainable if you have these three qualities.  Applicants will be encouraged to give forward and give back using their gift.

We invite artists to propose experimental, risk-taking projects in the visual arts, film/moving image, multidisciplinary, and socially engaged forms which push boundaries formally and thematically, and/or venture into wild, out-there, never-before-seen concepts and future universes real or imagined. Ultimately, we seek proposals for groundbreaking new work—including, but not limited to, work that attends to the many relationships between social, economic, and environmental justice, and advances the global dialogue around critical issues impacting the sustainability of artists, our communities, our planet, and beyond.

The mission of this grant is to promote public awareness of and a commitment to American art, and to encourage interest in painters who lack adequate recognition.

Recipients are selected by a diverse group of jurors—artists, curators, professors, writers—based on the strength of the materials submitted in this application as well as the perceived adherence to the spirit of the grant: to assist under recognized artists. Awards include a cash grant, ranging from $5,000 to $36,000 and an exhibition at PAAM.

The late Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed studied with Hans Hofmann in both New York and Provincetown. They were very active at PAAM as artist members and instructors in the summer school, and they served on a variety of committees throughout their 50 years on Cape Cod. Orlowsky, in particular, was sensitive to the challenges artists face, especially those working against the mainstream or outside of popular schools of art. Her desire to provide financial support to mature artists through this generous endowment gift speaks to her passionate commitment to art for art’s sake and art created regardless of the demands and whims of the marketplace.

Our Programming Fellow works alongside our Director of Artistic Programming on our exhibitions, artist residency program, summer and winter benefits, and public programming — including our annual Haunted Mill in October, summer block parties, and other seasonal events. Our Programming Fellow also helps evaluate our existing programming and workshop new programs. We expect our programming to continue to grow in the next few years, and we’re always looking refine the ways we already support our artists and community. Preference will be given to those with experience in exhibitions and/or programming and who have an artistic practice (visual or otherwise) of their own. The Pence Gallery's Emerging Artist Award is open for application now via www.callforentry.org. This Award is open to all artists ages 18 and up who live in California, who are early in their career. It awards them $4000 to create a body of work for a solo in-person exhibit at the Pence in Jan. 2024. Applications are due on Apr. 3, 2023 at 9 PM PST.

The IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund provides production funds for feature-length documentary films taking on in-depth explorations of original, telling contemporary-relevant stories, and integrating journalistic practice into the filmmaking process. In addition to funds, grantees will receive additional resources and expertise tailored to the needs of the project. Inclusion and diversity with regard to the filmmaking team, subject matter, and geography are a priority of the fund.

The AWAW EAG will support environmental art projects that inspire thought, action, and ethical engagement. Projects should not only point at problems, but aim to engage an environmental issue at some scale. Proposals should illustrate thorough consideration of a project’s ecological and social ethics. Projects that explore interdependence, relationships, and systems through Indigenous and ancestral practices are encouraged to apply.

The Abbey Mural Prize was created in 1932 in honor of muralist Edwin Austin Abbey NA to support the creation and restoration of public murals in the United States. Each year, the National Academy of Design awards grants to create or restore public murals – especially those that promote accessibility, serve local audiences, and inspire community dialogue

The Burke Prize is a biannual contemporary art prize for a new generation of artists working in a world of expanded media with a foundation in glass, fiber, clay, metal, or wood.

The Future Generation Art Prize is a biannual global contemporary art prize to discover, recognize and give long-term support to a future generation of artists. Established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009, the Prize supported the artistic development and production of new works of over 100 artists in exhibitions at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv and as official collateral events at the Venice Biennale in 2011, 2013, 2017 and 2019.
