Anolic Family Awards

The Anolic Family Awards are given to Jewish artists with a wide array of talents and goals. The Naomi Anolic Early Career Jewish Visual Arts Award offers $1,000 towards the completion of a specific project to an active early career Jewish visual artist between the ages of 25 and 35. The 2022 cycle of this award with focus on the fine arts: painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.

The Isaac Anolic Jewish Book Arts Award offers $1,500 towards the creation of a unique, one-of-a-kind, or limited edition, work of art in the field of Jewish book arts. All active, professional Jewish artists who have exhibited within the last five years are eligible to apply for this award

The Lumen Prize for Art and Technology

Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grant 

New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) partners with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation to administer the Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants of up to $5,000 for recent unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies to artists in financial need who are practicing in the visual arts, film/video/electronic/digital arts, and choreography.

The Evolution Grant

Art Fluent’s grant cycle is now open to individual artists through an international open call. The Evolution Grant will provide unrestricted funding to an individual artist with recognized artistic excellence in fine art media and a demonstrated commitment to their art. The Dexter Jones Award

Grants for Individual Artists, Creative Endeavors

Integrity: Arts & Culture Association (IACA) believes the arts are essential to the health and vitality of our communities and our nation. We are passionate about supporting artists in creating. We recognize the great need for support, and that receiving funding can sometimes be a complicated process. This is why we decided to do what we can to assist you and why our application process has been made simple. IACA Mini-Grants generally average $250. Funding is intended to assist with such things as: art supplies, recording studio time, exhibits, performances, project related expenses, etc. This is our way of planting seeds that we believe will continue to grow.

NYSCA/NYFA Artists with Disabilities Grant

The NYSCA/NYFA Artists with Disabilities Grant program will distribute cash grants of $1,000 to artists with a disability who have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis to cover art related expenses. The grant will be open to visual, media, music, performing, literary, and multidisciplinary artists who live in New York State outside of the five boroughs of NYC. Applicants must identify as disabled and be 21 years of age or older.

Illuminations Grant

Queer | Art’s Illuminations Grant for early-career Black trans women visual artists supports visual artists who are self-identified Black trans women and trans femmes. Winning artists will receive a $10,000 grant as well as additional professional development resources and further guidance to bolster their creative development in the field.

RESIDENCIES FOR ARTISTS

 

ALL THAT WE ARE 2022 residency program​

all that we are offers creative space for self-directed residencies in an extraordinary house overlooking tidal waters. Artists from all disciplines come to all that we are to create and reflect on their work. The property is in a place of great beauty and within the driving of some of the remaining wilderness in the world. In the property, you feel close to the natural world and in a place of reflection, peace, and connection. The property has multiple creative spaces including a library, studios, and 5 acres of land. We are programming for the first half of 2022 – the border restrictions have been lifted and January to June is the best weather of the year in Tasmania. The hosts, Simon and Victoria, offer support when required but also know how to stay out of your way. They can offer specific coaching in reflective practice and leadership, particularly in community-engaged practice.

Wilderness Artist Residency - Wild Clay, Green Wood, Land Arts

VCAC is an Artist Residency site in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, nestled between rural townships, abandoned mines, and the vast wilderness of the Ottawa National Forest. We hold one residency session each summer, hosting artists from around the country for two weeks of camping, exploring, learning, making, and sharing. We live and work communally, sharing daily chores to keep camp running, and we collaborate with the local community, from whom we learn traditional folk arts, sustainable construction, and responsible land management practices.

ARTEMISTA Residency

ARTEMISTA is a non-profit Cultural Association that deals with Visual Arts, Theatre, Music, Social Projects and Environmental Awareness Education, immersed in the northern Italian rural communities of the Po Valley and surrounding wine growing hills of “OltrePo. 

Through its residency programme, ARTEMISTA selects individuals or groups (up to 20 people) with creative and original proposals. Thanks to the physical characteristics of our workplace, we aim to offer different opportunities to Artists-in-Residency:

2022-2023 Artist-in-Residence Program

A year long residency at The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, MA offering free studio space

The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, MA is proud to continue its Artist-in-Residence program for the 2022-2023 season. This season, The Umbrella Visual Arts and Arts and Environment Departments are amping up the calls to action on climate change through a series of exhibitions and programs. We are seeking an Artist-in-Residence whose work also expresses urgency and invites participation around climate action.

The Umbrella’s Artist-in-Residence program offers a year-long studio residency in a vibrant multidisciplinary art center with 50 artist studios, an independent ceramics classroom, makerspace, performance and gallery spaces in historic Concord, Massachusetts. Our Artists-in-Residence create new bodies of work for exhibition at the culmination of their residency and engage the greater Concord community in their practice throughout the year. Applicants may be in any stage of their career and may work in any medium including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, clay, textiles, digital media, film, mixed media, or public art. Interdisciplinary artists welcome! BIPOC and artists of all backgrounds and identities are encouraged to apply!

The Old School Residency 

The Old School Residency is the first international artist residency program in Bulgaria. 

We offer a place for creative work and relax. A locus for individual artists or a small group of artists – up to 6 people – to ruminate, reflect and rejuvenate. Gorna Lipnitsa (www.gornalipnitsa.com/en/history), is a rural community, where the present and the past complement and contrast one another. Here, the spirit of Socialism is still alive, remnants of which can be found throughout the streets of the village. Upon visiting us, you will be enveloped by the bucolic scenery, crisp, clean air, silence, economical and fresh food, amiable community, and opportunity for true inspiration.

The Old school residency is a multidisciplinary residency program, we accept artists who create in the field of the visual arts (painting and drawing, wall painting, photography, installations, video, filmmaking, land art, etc.) and performance arts (music, dance, theatre).

CREEKSIDE ARTS is an Artist-in-Residency Program that is a unique opportunity to reflect, create and explore in an inspiring setting among the Redwoods of Northern California. Preference will be given to applications that demonstrate a project focus on what is dear to our community: Land, place, community, nature, climate, education, and social and political consciousness..

We provide an inspiring natural setting among the coastal redwoods of Northern California for individuals as well as collaborative artistic work and expression. We welcome artists from a broad range of creative disciplines. We provide a unique opportunity to reflect, create and explore away from the hectic demands and constraints of daily life.

La Macina di San Cresci Residency

Live and work in the shadow of the oldest church in all of Chianti, built in the 10th century, painstakingly restored by two lifelong art lovers skilled in design and architecture.

At La Macina, artists can find whatever sort of process they need; we have a thriving and close-knit community made up of visiting artists and local friends, but there is plenty of peace and quiet for those who seek relaxation and escape. Residents can take classes in fresco, watercolor, Florentine artisanal upholstery, paper decoration, and more. Artists will also have the opportunity to explore the surrounding areas on outings to local sites with cultural and historical significance. We are happy to arrange other activities, like Italian language lessons and cooking classes.

Keyholder Residency at Pyramid Center

Pyramid Atlantic Art Center’s Keyholder Residency is a competitive opportunity for emerging to mid-career artists who want to have unlimited access to the studios in exchange for working 4 hours a week for Pyramid Atlantic. The residency is awarded to artists who hope to gain more knowledge and improve their skills in the printmaking, papermaking, or book arts studios. Two artists are selected twice a year by the Pyramid Atlantic artistic staff. 

DEADLINE: June 18, 2022 for ​Fall/Winter 2022 Keyholder Residency.  December 18, 2022 for Spring/Summer 2023 Keyholder Residency.

DATES: 2-4 weeks between June and August 2022

WHERE: Hyattsville, MD

AMOUNT: A stipend for travel, materials, housing, etc. ($250 two weeks, $350 three weeks, or $500 one month)

WHO: Previous experience in printmaking may be helpful, but not necessary 

FINE PRINT: Keyholders work in a productive community atmosphere alongside other artists and are expected to abide by all studio policies. Housing is not provided, although, upon acceptance, artists will receive information on opportunities of nearby housing. There is a $10 application fee. 

 

BROTA Residency

BROTA invites artists from all over the world to create in dialogue with the cosmopolitan and dynamic city of Buenos Aires in Argentina. BROTA residency dedicates particular attention to projects exploring the interplay of nature and urban environment, within the Anthropocene the current geological epoch of extensive human modification of ecological and geological processes. The word combines the root “anthropo”, meaning “human” with the root “-cene”, the standard suffix for “epoch” in geologic time.

“BROTA” means -sprout- which is one of our residency objectives: see emerge, develop and thrive artist’s work and projects that can be part of this unique and enriching experience. The selection of the artists will be based on the artistic quality of their work, their motivation and their potential to make the most of the opportunity offered by the residency. The open call is all year round and English, Spanish and French language is spoken.

L’AiR Arts residency

L’AiR Arts residency program grounds its commitment to the contemporary arts from a historical perspective. Located in Montparnasse, known as a historic hub for international artists during the 20th century Ecole de Paris period, our residency program is dedicated to the historical legacy of this prolific period of intercultural and artistic exchange.

​In 2021, L’AiR Arts has initiated a cultural heritage project of preserving and restoring the last atelier of the prominent artist's community of Cité Falguière. Following the extensive research and restoration program, the Atelier is scheduled to reopen in 2022 as an International Arts Research Residency – keeping its original purpose and the name, Atelier 11. A new emblematic home for L’AiR Arts, the Atelier 11 residency will welcome local and international professionals for solo and duo projects, that will run parallel to international group programs, partner residencies, and events open to a broader community.

Seto Ceramics and Glass Art​ Exchange Program

This program supports ceramic and glass artists from all over the world in order to exchange ideas with local artists, which will bring new different perspectives to Seto City with more than 1000 years of ceramic history. This program also intends to encourage Seto citizens to encounter different forms of artistic expression through the art and cultural activities. We welcome the artists who have a strong desire to build new rapport with Seto citizens and interact with Japanese artist through creating new artworks together.

Fusion Art invites submissions for the 7th Annual Cityscapes art competition for an online exhibition during the month of June 2022.

For this competition, both 2D and 3D artists, worldwide, are invited to submit their best art depicting cityscapes. The theme includes any art which depict cities, towns, urban scenes and/or any related metropolitan subjects. The artwork can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and all artists, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit their best representational and/or abstract art and photography.

Artifex Ex Machina: Works Made in Collaboration with, or About Machines

The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit original works made with the aid of, in collaboration with, or about machines and mechanical processes. Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts 2d, 3d, or 4d media. Machines ease our work. We design them to amplify the effort of our bodies, and to harness larger forces and focus that energy on a task. Using machines, we can produce objects on a larger scale, make them more complex, and work more quickly, sometimes efficiently. Do you work with the machine, or do you use the machine? Or, does it use you? Does the machine need you?

Off Center: An International Ceramic Competition

Since the first ceramics were created before 25,000 BCE, people have been fascinated with clay. Northern California has a rich history of talented ceramic artists, from Robert Arneson to Manuel Neri. Off Center is Blue Line Arts’ annual competition highlighting this dynamic medium, featuring work from both established names and emerging talent from across the country.

3rd Annual Still Life Art Competition

For this art competition, 2D and 3D artists, worldwide, are encouraged to submit their best work depicting an arrangement of everyday inanimate objects.

The subjects of the art can range from a single object to a complex arrangement of objects. The work can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and all artists, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit their best representational or abstract art and photography.

A three-month group online exhibition will be featured on the Fusion Art website starting June 15, 2022.

The d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, July 2-30 2022. $950 in awards. Portrayed is an annual juried exhibition of original and unique 2D and 3D portraiture artworks. Work must either depict a human figure, or be a self-portrait to be considered. Open to all functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums and all styles. This in-person exhibition will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's new archive site.

Group Art Competition

Artist Space Gallery announces a call to artists for their 1st Group International Art Competition for the month of June 2022. Artists from around the world are encouraged to submit their best works. This is an open subject competition where a variety of interpretations of any art subject can be submitted (representative, abstract, conceptional). All forms of visual art are acceptable (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital, fiber art, collage, and installation), except sound and video art. All selected artists will receive a digital award certificate. An article about each artist will be displayed alongside the best of show and three winners. The best of show will be displayed on the poster of the exhibition.

Artists are invited to submit 2-D or 3-D work that is primarily paper based and made by hand, rather than digitally. Successful entries will demonstrate clear thematic relationships among two or more pieces. Photography is not eligible. Maximum framed size: 30 x 40 inches. Accepted pieces must be properly wired or mounted for hanging. 3-D work must be ready for wall-mounting or have a base included. The gallery reserves the right to reject poorly presented pieces.

SculptFest22 

The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center invites artists to submit proposals for SculptFest22. 

The theme for this year’s outdoor exhibition is Games, guest curated by sculptor Evan Morse.

Games are usually a form of recreation, a means to play and enjoy oneself. They are often social activities, a way to make new friends and spend time with old ones. They can provoke competition, pitting individuals or teams against each other. Some games involve varying degrees of chance, real or metaphorical rolls of the dice, and some games are entirely skill-based, testing creative and mathematical thinking, such as chess. While some games are entirely mental, others are highly physical. The Olympic Games are an opportunity for athletes to prove themselves at the highest level, and those who are masters at any game can parlay those achievements to real world success.

Looks Good On Paper, National Paper Arts Exhibition @ Pyramid Atlantic

A juried contemporary Paper exhibition, featuring 2D and 3D works on, in, and of paper. The exhibition will showcase diverse practices and concepts in paper arts including trends and advances in the art of hand papermaking, the political aspects of paper/papermaking, and works that explore and manipulate the materiality of paper itself.

Eligibility: 2D and 3D works on/in paper, where the paper is an important conceptual or technical aspect of the work. Prints, drawings, alternative photo processes on paper, pulp paintings and pulp sculptures, sculptural techniques in paper, recycled paper, folded, cut, pierced or otherwise manipulated paper, and mixed media paper pieces are all eligible for entry.

Art in the Park Sculpture Walk

Rock Falls Tourism is hosting its 5th Annual Art in the Park Sculpture Walk. Our beautiful RB&W Park that sits on the Rock River is home to 10 sculptures. Two of the sculptures are permanent. We are looking for 8 new sculptures that are changed out every September. The submissions are judged and voted on by the Rock Falls Tourism Committee in June. The selected pieces will receive a stipend of $1,000.00 and will be placed in the RB&W Park on September 2, 2022 and remain there for 1 year. The Art in the Park Sculpture Walk event where we introduce the new sculptures to the park will take place on Saturday, September 3rd. You will receive a free hotel room stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites (right next to the park) and invite you to stay for the event so that we can introduce you and the public can meet you. We also have an outdoor art gallery the day of the event as well and are welcome to bring other smaller art pieces to showcase and/or sell. Data + Art Festival

The Data + Art Festival is a one-day event to celebrate data as a medium in art, recognize the importance of art in industry, and break down the barriers of collaboration between data practitioners and artists of all backgrounds.

We are calling on artists to submit their artwork for our festival. In addition, a panel of data scientists and artists alike will determine winners for a cash prize in our two submission categories. Deadline for submissions is June 3, 2022. Pieces will be chosen based on how much they relate to our theme of Digital Wellbeing, along with originality, concept, and technical craft. For the cash prize, up to three works will be chosen for each category, with the first-place prize being $1000. Artists will be notified by June 10, 2022 on invitation, and the prize winners will be announced at the festival. Chosen artists are encouraged to attend in-person to present their work in whatever capacity they can, but not required.

Formerly Artist Opportunity Monthly, all you need to do is sign up with your email and they send you thoroughly screened opportunities every month, including grants. AOM prides itself on ensuring each opportunity is worthwhile. A more comprehensive monthly list is offered at $5 a year.

Another site you may have heard of is ArtDeadline.com. According to their website, it is “the largest and most respected source for artists seeking income and exhibition opportunities.” The site may cost you a subscription fee of $20 a year to view the majority of its opportunities, but you can still browse many grants listed for free on their homepage and the @ArtDeadline Twitter account.

CuratorSpace is a project management toolkit for curators, organizers, galleries, and artists. It is designed to take the hassle out of managing exhibitions, competitions, fairs, and a whole lot more. Plus, they are a great site for finding art opportunities worldwide!

Res Artist is a Worldwide Network of Arts Residencies from around the globe. The network comprises more than 700 vetted members in over 85 countries. They aim to support and connect residencies, engage and advocate the importance of residencies in today’s society by providing artists with resources and upcoming residency information.

Art Rabbit compiles a selection of international open calls and opportunities for contemporary art-related competitions, prizes, exhibitions, awards, proposals, and grants for artists, writers, and curators.
