A transcription from deHooch done in response to my experience in the first few months of being an empty-nester when my daughter went off to college in Edinburgh, Scotland. The mother and child in the de Hooch were a kind of stand-in for me and my daughter. In the deHooch, the daughter stands in the doorway, which for me felt at the time, evoked the idea of my daughter transitioning between home and the world outside.
