Through a lot of changes, no matter what I did to this painting, it cooperated - like a good friend that stays the course through thick & thin. I’d uncover lovely surprises in the scraping of the paint. Sometimes I would paint over those areas, only to scrape them back again. This led to a worked but shimmering surface. It wanted to stay violet & violet it stayed. Still life objects on tilted surfaces in an interior emerged, combining near & far, intimate & expansive.
