Cartouche

This painting started out very blue. While working on it, I used tape to create a series of linear elements. I painted saturated reds over much of the canvas. When I removed the tape I had a lot of blue lines against a red ground. It was a strategy for bringing more drawing into the painting. There is a sense of a table top in the lower right with objects on it. I like the large bold presence of this painting.
