In this painting which combines dry & wet paint, there is a sense of figure in a room and objects on a table. Spaciousness & intimacy evoke the idea of a woman’s own intimate room or boudoir. For me, my studio is this space of intimacy where I am allowed to express my interior thoughts, emotions, drives and my responses to the world outside in the form of paint, drawing, color. The color is a response to an impulse coming from deep within.
Once again the dominant reds serve an impulse coming from deep within.
There are references in this painting to Dutch painter, de Hooch’s painting, “The Bedroom.”
