This came out of me trying various strategies to synthesize my color and my drawing. In this case I projected an image of a drawing I had done on to the gessoed panel and drew some semblance of it using acrylic marker. While it ended up being quite different then the original drawing, I kept it as a black and white linear drawing on board for a long time before I dove into it with paint, feeling an emotional (for lack of a better word) imperative to keep it in the family of lush pinks and reds.
In 2019, I began to focus on trying to synthesize my color and my drawing, a thing that eluded me in the past. The pandemic hit and I was unable to go to my studio for about a year and a half. I was quarantining with my family in our house in Shelter Island and had no real space to paint but could draw and work on collages.
