I like to go where the shapes and textures take me once I have found a central element to work from, in this case a montage of tree bark. This took me into a fabulous world of lilac, blue and gold. A place far distant from the woods where the bark lived originally. The abstract architectural shapes - like a skyline of floating buildings from another planet - came together finally when I placed the golden squares textured with the original bark. I concluded when I finished this that we don't need Elon Musk to take us to Mars when we still have eyes, art, souls, and imagination.
