Not For Sale
Semi-Abstract created from the 12th sketch from my pandemic journal. This sketch, made on 14th January 2021, became a favourite due to the flowing lines and lumpy shadows. This is one of the boldest, brightest, but also slightly sinister renditions in the series with navy, red and yellow taken from a 1950s book cover. The snaking emerging leaf is exaggeratedly long and morphs into a road heading into a blank distant horizon. Themes of a journey of self-knowledge, unreal perspectives/uncertainty and playfulness come together in the boldly confident central image and the more hesitant greyed out sketch. Which is truly the stronger, I wonder?
