Not For Sale
One of the notable things about accepting mental illness and neurodiversity as part of your life is the door it opens onto new possibilities. I find rapid visual movements and certain combinations of movement and sounds over-stimulating. I often have to close my eyes or look away while speaking to someone due to this. But in the genesis of the 'Aqua Metallica' series the same sensory 'over' stimulation while looking at bubbling water in a sink led to some magic.
Piece zero in what became a complex series shows the basic metal shape - a domed plug and flowing water making an arc of bubbles across it. I captured this as a .png file and then masked and reworked it so that an enigmatic fissure curves across the central shape. A sphere where a 'river' of the yellow background splits it into two.
This is a new palette for me as well as a montage that is more distant from the natural world. Go where the art takes you, I guess? See pieces 1-5 in this series to see where it went!
