MAAF for Artists 2022

For individual artists, Media Arts Assistance Fund (MAAF) provides support for the completion and/or public presentation of new works in all genres of sound and moving image art, including emergent technology. Grant awards assist artists in completing new work, reaching public audiences, and advance artistic exploration and public engagement in the media arts. Women, gender non-comforming people, and people of color are encouraged to apply.

International FiKVA Award for painters 2022

The FiKVA Foundation announces its 1st international contest for representational & figurative painters. This competition aims to encourage and support artists financially and provide them with an opportunity to exhibit their best work online.

The International FiKVA Award for painters is a global online competition, open to all artists 18 years of age or older. The FiKVA Award welcomes entries in all genres: hyperrealism, photorealism, classical and modern realism, surrealism and imaginative realism – as long as the artwork reads as representational and not stylized or abstract.

ARTADIA AWARDS

The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose.The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure and recognition to artists. Each year, an open-call application is made available in each of the six active partner cities (LA, Chicago, New York, Louisville, San Francisco, New Orleans, Atlanta, Houston). Supporting artists equitably is a critical part of the Artadia Award process: we consider the unique populations of each community and are proud to reflect our country’s diversity with an Awardee pool that is over 50 percent female and over 40 percent persons of color.

AWARD INFO: Three Awardees in each city to receive unrestricted funds of $10,000. Marciano Artadia Awardee receives unrestricted funds of $25,000. 

WHO: Applicants must be a contemporary visual artist, making artwork for presentation in a contemporary art context: museum, galleries, arts non-profit, the public art realm, etc. Artadia does not fund filmmakers making films for distribution in cinematic venues, or those working in choreography presented outside of a contemporary art context. $500 Grant for Visual Artists

Artist Grant's current grant deadline is July 15, 2022. Guest juror is former grantee Anne Wu. To apply, email submit@artistgrant.org with a link to your website OR 3-5 digital files of your work, and a CV/resume or brief bio that includes your name. A $25 application fee is payable through Artist Grant’s website.

Southern Artists for Social Change program

The National Performance Network’s Southern Artists for Social Change program provides $25,000 project grants to artists and culture bearers of color living, working, and engaging in social change in urban, rural, and tribal communities of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

NPN’s Southern Artists for Social Change envisions a world in which people of color living, working, and organizing for community change in the South have the power, resources, and opportunities to thrive. NPN’s mission is to contribute to a more just and equitable world by building artists’ power; advancing racial and cultural justice in the arts; fostering relationships between individuals, institutions, and communities; and working toward systems change in arts and philanthropy.

2022 American Art Awards Juried By America's 20 Best Galleries & Museums

Artists are invited to submit entries for the 2022 American Art Awards. $5,000.00 in prizes, and your image and info to 20 galleries/museums. 50 categories, so anything accepted. Innovative, drawing, painting, abstract, portraits, figurative, animals, landscapes, still life, floral, religious, realism, impressionism, naïve,...... anything. Even photography, manipulated photos, digital and sculpture. Hundreds of articles on past winners at the site.

FAENA PRIZE

Founded in 2012, the FAENA PRIZE serves as a platform for a continued reflection on the present moment and its irreversible and heterogeneous changing nature. This new edition of the Faena Prize for the Arts will take place for the first time in Miami, a city that has been home to Faena Art’s programming for the past five years. We invite artists across genres, disciplines, and technologies to imagine temporary and site-specific projects to be installed at the Faena Beach. The selected proposal will be presented during Miami Art Week 2022.

AWARD INFO:  $100,000 ($25,000 in unrestricted funds will be awarded directly to the artist, and the remaining US $75,000 will be allocated towards the production of the new commission to be installed temporarily at the Faena Beach during Miami Art Week 2022

The Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant

The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical needs. 

DEADLINE: Ongoing Deadline 

WHO: Artists who can demonstrate a minimum involvement of ten years in a mature phase of his or their work. Painters, printmakers, sculptors.

AMOUNT: The maximum amount of this grant is $15,000; an award of $5,000 is typical.

FINE PRINT: The program does not consider requests for dental work, chronic situations, capital improvements, or projects of any kind; nor can it consider situations resulting from general indebtedness or lack of employment. Learn more here.

 

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant

 Created in 1993 to further FCA's mission to encourage, sponsor, and promote work of a contemporary, experimental nature, Emergency Grants provide urgent funding for visual and performing artists who:

  •  Have sudden, unanticipated opportunities to present their work to the public when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding

  •  Incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects close to completion with committed exhibition or performance dates

 Emergency Grants is the only active, multi-disciplinary program that offers immediate assistance of this kind to artists living and working anywhere in the United States, for projects occurring in the U.S. and abroad.

 Each month FCA receives an average of 95 Emergency Grant applications and makes approximately 12-15 grants. Grants range in amount from $500 to $3,000, and the average grant is now $1,700.

COMPETITIONS

4th Annual Lines, Shapes & Objects Art Competition

Fusion Art invites submissions for the 4th Annual Lines, Shapes & Objects online art competition, July 7 - August 4, 2022. Cash prizes and an invitation to Fusion Art's Annual Group Show in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2023 for Best in Show winners. In lieu of the cash prize, Best in Show winners can to choose a complimentary one-year membership to our Fusion Artist's Members Gallery, as long as they meet eligibility. Jurors: Chris & Valerie Hoffman. Both 2D and 3D artists, worldwide, are invited to submit their best art and photography depicting lines, shapes & objects. The artwork can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and all artists, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit.

All About Women 2022

Marin Society of Artists seeks entries for an online art exhibition, July 24 - October 1, 2022 as well as a You Tube presentation. $500 first prize, $300 second prize, $100 third prize, several honorable mention awards. Juror: Carol Tarzier. Open to all artists, age 18 and over, regardless of gender. Artists are invited to submit artwork about women and their lives, past, present and future, and the issues that concern them. Open to painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, fiber art, ceramics and all types of fine art crafts. (No film or video.) $35 for 3 entries, $7 for each additional entry.

Portrait Art Competition

Artist Space Gallery announces their 1st online Portrait Art Competition for the month of July 2022. Artists from around the world are encouraged to submit their best works related to the Portrait theme. A portrait may feature one person or a group of people, or it may be a self-portrait. All forms of visual art are acceptable (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital, fiber art, collage, and installation), except sound and video art. The jury will select award winners in the following art categories: painting, photography, sculpture. All selected artists will receive a digital award certificate. International Art Competition Grey

Contemporary Art Room Gallery is proud to announce their 2nd "Grey" Online Art Competition for the month of July 2022. This is an international competition and artists from around the world are welcome to submit their work. Only the works of art created in black, white and or shades of grey will be accepted. Southern Survey Biennial

We are excited to announce Project Row Houses' inaugural year of the Project Row Houses Southern Survey Biennial. A concept created to serve as a survey of recent works created by contemporary visual artists living and working in the southern region. Artists from across the region are invited to submit for consideration and seven artists will be selected. The purpose of the Biennial is to highlight artists living and working in the South and create more viable opportunities specific to the Southern region. One artist will receive a $25k prize (selected by the guest curator)

Berks Art Alliance 43rd Annual Juried Show

The Berks Art Alliance 43rd Annual Juried Show will take place at the prestigious Goggleworks Center for the Arts in Reading, Pennsylvania. Grey Cube Gallery proudly presents the third "City" online art contest for the month of July. The Best of Show artwork will be displayed as the poster of the show. As artists, we are challenged to capture a moment in time, a split second communicated as a visual suggestion of motion. Whether through line, texture, contrast, patterns, or color, we use all kinds of methods to translate movement in our art. Motion in artwork also helps the viewer's eye move from one part of the piece to the next. Rhythm and flow can be implied through capturing movement as the work itself or how we are supposed to move within the piece. Show us MOTION from your perspective.

Multifarious: A Juried National Exhibition of Abstract Artworks

The d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, August 6 - September 3, 2022. $950 in awards. Juror: Richard Nickel. Multifarious is an open medium juried exhibition of original and unique 2D and 3D abstract artworks. The d'Art Center is looking to exhibit abstract, non-figurative, non-objective, and/or non-representational artwork in a variety of styles and mediums. The artwork in multifarious will be a departure from reality in imagery depictions. There is no specific theme. Open to all functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums and all styles. This in person exhibition will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site. $35 for up to 3 works.

Open Call All Media: TNBT22

Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo, CA seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, August 6 to September 24. First Place: $1,000, Second Place $500, Third Place $200. Juror: David Pagel. Studio Channel Islands invite you to enter your most recent break-through pieces, the ones that have led you to the horizon of your works next evolution. Open to all artists ages 18 and up. All media and styles are welcome. Submissions must be of original artwork, completed within the last three years. 2D artwork must be no larger than 8ft high, and must be delivered ready to hang with appropriate hardware. No saw-tooth hangers. Pedestals will be provided for 3D artwork. Limited video and live performance options available.

Chiaroscuro

Darkness, shadow, and space have the power to communicate as much as light and color, but we can often overlook them in our exploration of the captured image. The essence of a photograph and other figurative artworks is a harmony of brightness, contrast, highlights, and shadows. What can the mind's eye see outside the realm of luminosity and perceive in its absence? What is made evident or alluded to by being concealed? Chiaroscuro is an international juried group exhibition open to photographers ages 18 years and older. All black and white, color, conventional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.

Artist in Residency- “Histories”

The aim of our program is to inspire and support artists who are interested in
the landscape of Chalkidiki, in its diversity and in Greek culture in general.
Getting in close contact with all these during the residency period will give
them the opportunity to produce unique works of art according to their
impressions and perceptions. We also aim at providing participants with a
setting and a daily routine which encourages engaging in a dialogue with
each other.


We are looking for artists who have a genuine interest in what we have to
offer, value the company of other artists and are also excited to engage in the
exchange of ideas and experiences with them. We believe that especially
artists who want to reflect on their work or to explore new directions will
definitely profit from our program. The minimum number of participants will be
4 and the maximum 8 artists.

Working Artist Studios

Local, national or international artists and creatives: all are welcome to apply for a residency in Working Artist Studios (WAS)! 

WAS have 2 studios available for short term residency or studio rent, from 1 week to up to 1 month. They are located on the second floor and are perfect for working on a specific project or if one needs dedicated time away from distractions. All studios have natural daylight, high ceilings, shelves/cupboards, and 24hour access.

The studios are suitable for a variety of art forms, including writing & poetry and are particularly suitable for visual artists. We are keen to facilitate interactions between artists and the community. The village of Ballydehob has a supportive, friendly atmosphere and a strong spirit, which we would like to foster by encouraging collaborating artists to take part in the life of the community. The Residency for Experimental Arts Education 2022-2023

Applications for Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA) Residency for Experimental Arts Education are due on July 8, 2022. Built out of CMA’s 34 years of service to the community, the Residency for Experimental Arts Education invites individuals to reflect on the efficacy of arts education today while designing & implementing alternative futures through studio intensives, community-based programs, and online exposure.

This full-time position works alongside an administrative staff and anticipates a year-long schedule including: three to five public partnership programs in the fall, spring, and summer; two 12-week after school programs each semester; one week-long intensive program each fall and spring (corresponding to spring and winter school breaks); and five-week-long summer arts program.

Ark Project Residency

The Ark Project is a triennial international artist residency program realized in 2015 with a focus on creation, presentation, and documentation of contemporary art that engages discovery, transformation and innovation.

Every three years the program travels to a new city across the globe and one artist is invited into the collective for an evolving curatorial project. The vision for the Ark Project is centered around the co-creation process with intention to break open ones artistic practice to a new level and create new work that the artist may not otherwise create outside the residency.

The program mission is to explore the intersection of nature, art, and consciousness through visual art to create structures that allow for an evolution of harmony and connection with the natural world.
The Ark is a symbol for hope in a fast changing world in need of connection, collaboration, and a meeting of the mind and spirit with nature. Our intention is to create synergy and community to cultivate growth and symbiosis through art.

The Studios at MASS MoCA Residency Program

The Studios is MASS MoCA’s artist and writers residency program situated within the museum’s factory campus and surrounded by the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. Operated by MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists program, the residency runs year-round and hosts up to 12 artists at a time.

Quinn Emanuel Artist-in-Residence

This residency is open to emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplines across Greater Los Angeles. For four months the artist-in-residence will be given a studio in the Quinn Emanuel Los Angeles office to support their existing practice or a new project as appropriate.

At the end of the residency an exhibition will be held to display the works of the artist and at least one work will be incorporated into the permanent collection. A supporting stipend will be provided, as well as materials allowance. Over the course of a year there will be 2 residencies, each with a four month residency and a subsequent exhibition in a location deemed appropriate for the work decided on between the artist and curator.

Loghaven Artist Residency

Loghaven Artist Residency’s mission is to serve artists by providing them with a transformative residency experience and continued post-residency support. The residency is located on ninety acres of woodland in Knoxville, Tennessee. Artists live in five historic log cabins that have been both rehabilitated and modernized to create an ideal setting for reflection and work, and they have access to new, purpose-built studio space. All Loghaven Fellows are awarded stipends to support the creation of new work during the residency.

Sumac Project​

Sumac Project provides an opportunity for artists/writers/musicians to generate, and experiment during their self-directed residency, in a three-level saltbox style home. We encourage artists to strengthen their practice while making meaningful connections and artistic cooperation. Conveniently located 150km northeast of Toronto atop rolling country hills in the traditional territory of the Mississauga Anishinaabeg. Sumac Project invites up to two artists in residence concurrently, from one week to one month to pursue their vision, focus, and create.

2023 Atelier Mondial Residency

Residency Unlimited (RU) is proud to announce its ninth open call for New York City based artists for a six month residency starting February 3 until July 30, 2023 hosted by Atelier Mondial (formerly International Studio and Exchange Program of the Basel Region - iaab) in Basel, Switzerland. ARTIST FAMILY RESIDENCIES

The Artist Family Residency supports Artist Parents and Artist Youth alike with a one-two week residency at Franconia in July.

Coinciding with our Youth Installation Summer Camps, Artist Youth are invited to collaborate with their parent on a submitted project plan or attend camp during the day while the Artist Parent can be on-site for self-sufficient research or production. For artist parents, this is a self-directed residency, process-based residency and there is no expectation of a finished work.  The Artist Family benefits both from the individual creative process and also through togetherness. A culminating Parents & Community sharing of Summer Camp Works provides a joined capstone experience for the Artist Family.

The Other Art Fair Dallas

The Other Art Fair is a global gathering of creative thinkers, game changers and pleasure seekers sharing emerging talent and unforgettable experiences.

Not sure if you want to apply through a third party, Art Guide is the free artist opportunity site for you. This call for entries website allows you to apply directly to the organization offering the grant. The list is updated daily so there'll always be a great new opportunity to pursue.

Formerly Artist Opportunity Monthly, all you need to do is sign up with your email and they send you thoroughly screened opportunities every month, including grants. AOM prides itself on ensuring each opportunity is worthwhile. A more comprehensive monthly list is offered at $5 a year.

ArtDeadline.com

Another site you may have heard of is ArtDeadline.com. According to their website, it is “the largest and most respected source for artists seeking income and exhibition opportunities.” The site may cost you a subscription fee of $20 a year to view the majority of its opportunities, but you can still browse many grants listed for free on their homepage and the @ArtDeadline Twitter account.

Curator Space

CuratorSpace is a project management toolkit for curators, organizers, galleries, and artists. It is designed to take the hassle out of managing exhibitions, competitions, fairs, and a whole lot more. Plus, they are a great site for finding art opportunities worldwide!

Re-title is a service for professional contemporary artists searching for opportunities, such as competitions, exhibitions, residencies, etc. A site for international contemporary art, this is another great site to find opportunities around the world! There’s even a map you can click on to search opportunities regionally and world clocks at the top of their site so you can submit applications on time!

Res Artist is a Worldwide Network of Arts Residencies from around the globe. The network comprises more than 700 vetted members in over 85 countries. They aim to support and connect residencies, engage and advocate the importance of residencies in today’s society by providing artists with resources and upcoming residency information. 

Art Rabbit 

Art Rabbit compiles a selection of international open calls and opportunities for contemporary art-related competitions, prizes, exhibitions, awards, proposals, and grants for artists, writers, and curators. They publish a selection of open calls from a pool of submissions and editorial research. Only open calls believed to offer meaningful benefits to applicants at different stages of their careers are published.

Creative Capital
