I call this image "Powder," an uncommon image of a fairly common bird: the ordinary dark-eyed junco. When I took this photograph, I was immersed in a moment of peace that has reverberated in me for weeks. The complete silence of a light snow falling. No other humans for miles around. Just me and the junco. Utter peace. Soft pastel colors combined with the light snow fall and the delicate blurred lines of background ponderosa pines transport me right back to that place in the snow.
