Since 1959, the Mendocino Art Center has served as a haven for artists, students, and visitors alike. Located just a quarter mile from the rugged Northern California headlands overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the center offers an environment of unparalleled beauty, ideal for both art education and creation.
The Mendocino Art Center’s Artist in Residency (AiR) program is an 8-month residency designed for ceramics and multidisciplinary artists, with an emphasis on ceramics. This program provides an opportunity for artists to deepen their practice while engaging in a supportive artist community. Artists in Residence will be housed on-site and have 24-hour secure access to their studio. AiRs are invited to exhibit their work in our Main Gallery for a month long exhibit during the month of April. Teaching opportunities and open studio dates may be available.
Ceramic facilities include:
Bourry-box train kiln
Catenary arch wood-soda kiln
2 electric kilns
