  • Baton Rouge General Arts in Medicine program is pleased to announce its annual “Call for Entry” for the Café Gallery Art Exhibit located in the cafeteria on our Bluebonnet campus. We are looking for works that demonstrate the theme, “Elemental.” Explore the basic building blocks of life and the powerful forces of nature from an aesthetic, emotional, environmental, scientific, and/or philosophical perspective. 

Award Info:

Ribbons will be awarded for 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and Honorable Mentions. Additionally, Arts in Medicine is excited to announce the introduction of the Fan Favorite award! The Fan Favorite award-winning piece will receive special recognition and VIP placement within the exhibit and be marked as 'SOLD', as it will be purchased by Arts in Medicine and become part of its permanent collection.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Original or giclée; oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, charcoal, collage, ink, photography, digital art.
  • All work must be 2-dimensional; 3-D elements (e.g., texture, fiber, etc.) will be considered on a 2-D surface.
  • Entries must be handmade and the original design/concept of submitting artist (AI-generated works and master studies will not be accepted).
  • Works up to 48” x 60” in size.
  • Canvas and wood panels must be Gallery Wrapped.
  • Framed works must have a simple wooden frame not to exceed 1½ inches in thickness, matting must be neutral in color, and for any work exceeding 25 inches and requiring glass, Plexiglass is recommended. Please submit your framed artwork with an additional image of the piece unframed.
  • All art must have a wire on the back; artwork delivered without a wire will not be accepted. 
  • Open to all local artists in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and surrounding areas. 
  • Must be able to drop off and pick up artwork at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet campus.

Initial review by curatorial panel.
Juried selection process.
Final Selection Announced on August 8, 2025.
Installation Period: August 20-24, 2025
Opening Reception: September 25, 2025, 5-7pm

Baton Rouge General's Cafe Gallery exhibits artworks for sale, unless noted by the Artist. We suggest pricing be fair and appropriate as we would like your art to sell. The clientele who utilizes this space cover every imaginable walk of life and income bracket. Arts in Medicine will retain 30% of all sales with proceeds going directly back into the program.
