3. The Painter’s Keys: Robert and Sara Genn

The Painter’s Keys was started by artist Robert Genn to help fellow artists succeed in their career. Robert Genn believed “While ours seems a simple business, there’s just so much worth knowing. I’m finding a great deal of it has never been properly expressed before.” He wrote these newsletters twice a week for 15 years until his daughter, professional painter Sara Genn, took over. She now writes one a week and sends out an archived letter of Robert’s. The topics range from existential to practical, and are always enjoyable and informative. Some of the latest letters have covered the compulsion to create, the nature of happiness, and the effects of clutter in your art.
