Many of Vermont’s covered bridges are well-known. Some fly under the radar. Built in 1896, the Red Covered Bridge is located in Morristown and is only a 10 minute drive from the Stowe village. It is out of the way and unassuming yet captivating when you scramble down the bank and look back up at it. The overhead light has to fight through some dense tree cover to shine upon Sterling Brook which runs beneath it. The whole of the Sterling Valley offers many nice views, riverside and open views, that just beg to be painted. I enjoyed doing this little painting and envision it possibly making its way onto a larger canvas someday.
