This farm on Cilley Hill in Underhill Vermont is the subject of one of my first paintings when I first started painting. I returned to this spot recently because of the great view looking past the barn to Mount Mansfield. It was not disappointing. That is how I came to paint this particular piece, which still pays homage to the barn, but the view out past the barn is what creates the dynamic that intrigues me. Often I find the most hard-scrabble, weary, or hard on their luck farms have these million dollar views.
