Peacham is one of those quintessential towns in Vermont that capture your attention and invigorate the senses. Small, quiet, and out of the way, cell reception is spotty at best, and it’s not directly on the way to anywhere else. Which keeps it the way it’s been year after year. The church in the center of town is a landmark and a magnet for photographers and painters. The picture depicted here in this painting was on the night of the full harvest moon as it rose in the east with the Presidential Range in New Hampshire in the background. A cadre of photographers were here to take photos from the fields up behind the church, courtesy of a local farmer. I believe I was the only artist present this evening but the camaraderie was excellent. Capturing the diminished light and more subtle colors of late Autumn in the early evening was the main challenge with this painting, but since the sun set more than 20 minutes past the moonrise there was ample light.
