Seven Decades of Visual Expression
Robert Allen Nemer
I have been an artist from age five to this day 78 years of expressing myself with my five senses, touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste, yes even taste. There are more senses we use, like spatial awareness and balance.
With an artist your work must include all your senses. Your life is creating your world and expressing how you feel and how well you can express those senses. As I grew and learned and received my degrees each step along the way I began to define my “style” starting out by drawing in charcoal then chalk then clay and finally painting.
My most dominant sense is spatial awareness and balance. After many years of expressing myself in recreating nature and realism I began to experiment and create life as I observed and felt it, spaces, color, and shapes to redesign a three-dimensional world on a two-dimensional surface. A canvas to a painter is like paper to a writer. A writer paints with words to express the story or plot how colorful the word is what makes the writer more interesting to the reader. The painter uses visual expression to tell a story or elicit a response. Both are artists both create a feeling or mood. When you view my art I believe you will feel my passion, heart, and soul
