About the painting:
The geological wonders of Big Bend National Park are breathtaking—the volcanic peaks, desert basins, fossil beds, canyons, and hoodoos rightly capture much of the spotlight with their striking forms and edges. Yet what truly captivated me was not the land itself, but the vast sky above it all.
That sky was alive, shifting constantly like an endless canvas—sometimes glittering with stars, sometimes brushed with soft ivory clouds, and at other times swirling with dramatic violets and greys. In a single day, it could stir my imagination, quicken my pulse, and then soothe me back into calm again.
This painting is my way of honouring that sky—the ever-changing presence that hovered above it all and held such power over me.
