About the painting:
I was on a road trip with my husband through Vermont and New Hampshire in May 2024, when we made a stop in Stowe. This is a view we came upon while walking along the town's "Quiet Path." I made several sketches of that gentle curving stream because its' calm lines were echoed in the rolling green hills in the distance, while they also contrasted with the sharper edges of the trees and foliage in the foreground. It all worked so beautifully together. I was in the moment sketching it, totally present in that quiet corner of beauty.
Painting it a year later brought back my sense of balance and peace. That's the grace and power natural spaces bring to our hearts.
