About the painting:
Some of my favorite road trips don’t take me very far at all—like the quiet morning I spent at Caw Caw County Park in Charleston. Caw Caw has always been a special place to me, a spot where I’ve often stopped to sketch. But that day, I went simply to walk. I turned off my phone, stepped onto the trails, and let the world slow down.
The funny thing about those trails is that I never walk as far as I intend. The views always stop me in my tracks. I find myself just standing still—breathing, listening, letting the place wash over me. The marsh water, mirroring the wide open sky, feels endless. The grasses, in every season, frame the scene with such quiet brilliance.
That view has a way of carrying me off while grounding me at the same time. It restores me—my spirit, my mood, my sense of calm. And the best part? I don’t have to pack a bag or travel far to find it.
