About the painting:
Some days have a rhythm that just keeps you buzzing, carrying you from one adventure to the next — and this one was exactly that. Ours began with a hike into Boquillas Canyon, followed by a boat ride across the Rio Grande into Mexico for a delicious lunch and a browse through colourful crafts. Back in the U.S., a dusty gravel road led us to abandoned hot springs tucked away on the river’s edge — boots off, soaking with fellow travellers, swapping stories in the warm water.
By late afternoon, the long drive back to the lodge became its own kind of gift — the desert floor shifting in shadow, the sky deepening into a symphony of colours that felt like a reflection of the day itself: vibrant, surprising, full of character. I thought it was the perfect ending. But then the stars came out that night in the famous dark sky… and Big Bend reminded me that sometimes the best moments are still waiting after you think the day is done.
