About the painting:
The purple prickly pear is a striking cactus native to the desert Southwest, and it completely stole my heart during my time in Big Bend National Park. Like scattered jewels across the desert floor, their luminous color caught my eye long before the mountains did.
Back in my studio, I couldn’t wait to paint them. The first images I shared immediately resonated with my followers, and when I included two variations in my solo show Lost and Found this past March, they were collected even before opening night. Viewers often asked if the cactus is truly that vibrant—absolutely, yes. Its color vibrates with such intensity that I’m still painting it today.
