My painting reflects a future Oregon devastated by climate change and choked by ongoing wildfires. In the echo of lush vegetation, Oregonians will have to adapt to the harsh climate by wearing an oxygen apparatus. As hazardous smog becomes a permanent feature of Oregon life, so will the apparatus as the new face mask. Residents will stuff their breathing apparatuses with coveted flowers and plants to help alleviate the constant smell of smoke. Each plant and flower, now rare and extinct, become expensive commodities in this grim future. If we do not take action to hold corporations accountable for pollution and waste, the climate that we've grown to know will disappear.
