Rising: Climate in Crisis Residencies at A Studio in the Woods invites artists to be agents of change in guiding our collective understanding, response, and vision as we shape our shared future.

Artists play a vital role in facing the climate crisis. We encourage artists to guide our collective response to this challenging issue while bringing wisdom, integrity, optimism, and even humor to intentional projects seeking transformation for our species and our planet. Southeast Louisiana’s land and inhabitants are continually challenged by the effects of environmental degradation. As sea levels and temperatures rise, our landscape acts as a microcosm of the global environment. We look for ways to reimagine our interactions with our shifting urban and natural ecosystems. Rising Residencies provide artists with time, space, funding, and staff support to foster critical thinking in the creation of new works – igniting our imaginations while illuminating our challenges and inspiring solutions.

We are open to artists of all disciplines who have demonstrated an established dialogue with environmental and cultural issues. We ask artists to describe in detail how our unique region will affect their work, propose a public component to their residency, and suggest ways how they will engage with the local community.
Residencies are 6 weeks and will take place between September 2023 and May 2024. Flexibility in your dates is appreciated as we try to accommodate everyone’s schedules. You may come over six consecutive weeks or come twice for three-week sessions.

In 2022, Bethany Arts Community identified the need and opportunity to support a longer-term residency specifically for emerging artists from 21-30 years old. In 2023, BAC welcomes their second annual Young Artist Residency, running from July 24 to October 20, 2023.

This residency is designed to offer a creative home to promising artists as they transition and deepen their professional careers and artistic practice. With provided support from BAC, Young Artist Residents will be able to devote uninhibited energy towards creativity.

Young Artist Residents will be in a community of artists and culture workers from a broad range of disciplines, including our Fall Multidisciplinary residents, local studio artists, BAC staff and board members, those presenting programs on campus and more! In addition, YA Residents will be invited to participate in education and enrichment programs, curatorial planning, and peek into the “back-end” of art institutions.

Bethany Arts Community strives to empower the voices of emerging artists in shaping their own careers and future programs at BAC and beyond.

The Young Artist Residency runs for thirteen weeks, July 24 to October 20. Artists are provided room & board, a private studio, and a $250 stipend per week. Meals will only be provided during other residency programs, approximately 5 weeks of the Young Artist Residency. Artist is responsible for transportation to and from BAC.

Studio Visit is a series of juried artist books. Since 2008 we have offered artists a new and effective venue through which to introduce their work to a serious national audience of art world professionals. Each high quality volume of Studio Visit features approximately 150 artists, who have been selected by professional curators. Selected artists will be given the opportunity to redeem a 1-4 page full color spread that includes 1-4 images image, contact information and a brief artist statement, which will be published in two volumes of Studio Visit scheduled to be released in the Fall/Winter of 2023-24.

APS MOHO seeks entries for YICCA 2023. Jury will select 18 artists to participate in the final exhibition, June 3-17, 2023 at Imagoars in Venice, Italy. 4000,00€ in awards. The competition's aim is to promote the enrolled artists, giving them a chance to join the international market of contemporary art. Internationality and networking make YICCA a huge opportunity for the artists. All kinds of art works are accepted, including video, installations and performances. All works will be presented by a picture or a video that must be followed by a description of the work. The contest is open to all artists or groups of artists and professionals from any country.

The South Suburban Park and Recreation District's Public Art Committee (PAC) requests proposals for permanent artwork to be placed at Holly Park, a heavily used community park located at 6652 S Krameria Way, Centennial, CO. $25,000 for all expenses. The park amenities include a recently renovated public pool, tennis center, open space, trails, restrooms, and parking lot. The proposed location for the artwork is within the open space between Little Dry Creek Trail and S Krameria Way, immediately north of the bus stop along E Arapahoe Rd. For maintenance purposes, the artwork and foundation must be at least five feet from boulders, trees or other objects (see the map provided). No entry fee.

To date, more than 1,000 artists have participated in the residency program.
Bemis offers artists-in-residence unmatched technical guidance, access to interns, and an established network of resources. Participants have the opportunity to create networks, collaborate, and share their work with fellow artists-in-residence, organizational partners, and the public. The Bemis Alumni Program extends artist support beyond their Bemis residency through Alumni Residencies, an annual Alumni Award, and Alumni Convenings.
Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts launched its Sound Art + Experimental Music Program in May 2019 with generous support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Embedded within Bemis Center’s renowned international Residency Program, this opportunity offers a unique experience for two artists working in sound, composition, voice, and experimental genres and tools. National and international artists participating in the program receive financial, technical, and administrative support, along with dedicated facilities for rehearsing, recording, and performing new works that expand the field of sound art and music. This is an independently-driven, process-based residency in a communal environment, fostering creative growth, experimentation, and supportive exchange. There are no expectations placed on residents to create or perform.

LOW END is Bemis Center’s music venue located in its 25,000 square foot lower level and an integral part of the Sound Art + Experimental Music Program. The unique artist-designated space includes custom seating, theatrical lighting, an anamorphic perspective stage, and industrial-grade sound equipment. LOW END features free live shows by local, national, and international sound artists, composers, and experimental musicians. These performances aim to not only build greater appreciation and new audiences for experimental forms of music but also to liberate the artists on stage to take risks and present truly avant-garde work.

STUDIOS AND FACILITIES
Located in the historic Old Market, Omaha’s arts and culture district, Bemis Center's campus accommodates a broad range of artistic activity. Two selected artists-in-residence will enjoy a generous sized, private live/work studio complete with kitchen and bathroom. Sound Art + Experimental Music artists-in-residence have 24-hour access to Bemis Center’s Sound Studio, a 1,000 square foot shared workspace that includes a variety of instruments, amps, microphones, and digital hardware and software to assist and expand creative processes. Selected residents will also have access to expansive installation and production spaces within Bemis Center’s 110,000 square foot main facility and the Okada Sculpture & Ceramics Facility, a 9,000 square foot large-scale sculpture fabrication space and workshop. FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Selected U.S.-based artists-in-residence receive a $2,000 USD monthly stipend, a $750 USD travel stipend, a $7,000 USD materials budget, and a $1,000 USD shipping budget to cover the transportation of items or equipment to and from the residency. Due to the limitations of B2 visas (touring/visiting), international artists-in-residence are eligible to receive reimbursement of qualified expenses, such as airfare, ground transportation, and meals. Located inside the Live Room, the Recording Studio is accessible through a double-door entryway. The doorway dimensions are 83" wide x 79.25" tall and has an elevated, sloping threshold that is 2" tall. The Live Room is barrier free.

The animal kingdom is full of fascinating and incredible creatures, each with their own unique abilities, behaviors, and characteristics. There are over 1.5 million known species of animals, and new species are still being discovered today.
Animals have been depicted in art for thousands of years, representing a wide range of symbolism, from grace and speed to strength and nobility to transformation and freedom. But we can all agree that they are beautiful and captivating, and we will forever be drawn to their natural beauty and power. Show us ANIMALIA from your perspective.

ENTRY PROCEDURE
Entry is done through CaFÉ, a web-based service that allows artists to upload images and organize their artwork for submissions to galleries. To apply for a call, you must leave our website and go to the CaFÉ website at www.callforentry.org where you can create a FREE artist account. You will add your details and upload your images to CaFÉ and then you can submit work to ANIMALIA. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] we are happy to walk you through the process.

MEDIA PREPARATION
All images must be in JPEG/JPG format using CaFÉ guidelines. The image size must be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side. Maximum file size is 5 mb.
Accepted video formats include MOV, MP4, WMV. Aspect ratio 4:3 or 16:9, resolution minimum 640x480, maximum 1920 x1080, bit rate recommended above 240 kbps, recommended frame rate 30 fps. File size must be under 100 MB.

NOTIFICATION
Notification will be done by email, everyone who submits will be notified of the juror’s selections. If for any reason you do not hear from us by the notification date, please check the filters in your email account. Notification emails are sent to the email on file with CaFÉ.

SALES
All sales inquiries will be directed to the artist’s website and/or contact information. For any artwork that is sold, the artists receive 100% of the sale.

GIVING BACK
A portion of the proceeds from the entry fees is donated to organizations committed to the arts and supporting artists.

REQUIRED FORMS
Cash awards over $600 are subject to federal income tax withholding within the United States. A W-9 form must be filled out by the winner and submitted to Art Fluent, Inc.

The International Artist Residency Pedvale is now officially accepting applicants for the 2023 June Residency programme. Artists are invited to apply for a 4 week long residency. This is the midsummer time. The Midsummer celebration is on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Held annually on June 23/24 it is the largest national celebration in Latvia. Originally Līgo or literally ‘Swaying’, the festival celebrates the importance of the sun, Saule, and ritual bonfires burn through the night across Latvia. In Pedvale contemporary aesthetic rituals overlay the celebration of an ancient cultural ritual.
Applications will be selected and 9 artists will have the opportunity to work creatively. The group will be formed according to a principle so that representatives of different areas would be included – visual artists, writers, dancers, performance artists. Pedvale Art Park & Artist Residency is located two hours northwest of Riga. The spacious territory of almost 100 hectares at Pedvale Art Park is suitable for leisurely walks, during which you can enjoy both the landscape and the art exhibited in the park.

In modern times, we experience echoes of the loop Sisyphus is stuck in, from the eternal cycle of war, pestilence, and death; how do you find purpose and escape the repetitions of reality where meaning escapes our grasp, and The Absurd is all that remains?

The Absurd is an international juried group exhibition open to photographers ages 18 years and older. All black and white, color, conventional, non-traditional photographic, and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission.

We are excited to open submissions for our Spring 2023 issue, "East".

Following on the heels of our inaugural issue "North", this issue pivots one quarter turn around the compass rose, to reflect on the many connotations of "East". What is east? Where is east? What embodies east? How does the east guide us, or elude us? How do we reach the east? Does the east bring comfort, spiritual guidance, hope? What are our experiences in the physical/geographical east? When have we experienced or striven for rebirth, new dawns, new beginnings? What is awakening? And what of spring? How does the world around us awaken to, or resist, the many facets of "east"?

Each year, WaveMaker at Locust Projects awards a total of $60,000 in grant funding to artists across Miami-Dade County in the following three categories:

New Work / Projects: Grants up to $6,000 each to support the creation and presentation of visionary, artist-driven new work / projects.   

Long-Haul Projects: Grants up to $6,000 each to support launching, sustaining, or completing long-term projects. This category recognizes the time and commitment required to pursue long-term artistic endeavors.

R&D + Implementation: Grants up to $2,000 each to support research and development for ambitious new projects that take creative risks or benefit from a longer planning period. After the R&D phase, grantees are encouraged to submit a short-form proposal for an additional $4,000 to implement their projects.

Sitka residencies provide time and space for self-paced work and reflection in an inspiring natural setting. Residents from a broad range of art, writing, performance and science-based practices come to Sitka to create and explore away from the familiar contexts and constraints of daily routines, and free from external expectations. Located within the unique ecosystems of Cascade Head and the Salmon River Estuary on Oregon's central coast, Sitka is a place where natural curiosity is sparked and creativity is unleashed.

The Connect International Residency is a virtual residency between artists. The program invites the participants to create a new project or innovate an existing project.

It entails 5 virtual meetings between all International and local artists under moderation by Hollie Davis and the Connect fellows.

SHOWCASE:

At the end of the residency artists will display artwork created during the residency at The Beverly Arts Center on Chicago’s southside. The show will be curated by Connect Residency founder Hollie Davis, and will feature both Chicago-based and international artists.

PROGRAM STURCTURE:

The Connect International Artist Residency will meet every on Wednesday for four consecutive weeks, with additional meetings occurring later. Meetings will last two hours, and will be conducted via Google Meet. The goal of the residency is to connect emerging artists in multiple countries, introduce them to role-models and mentors, and to build to an international network of career-artists providing support to one-another.

MEETING STRUCTURE:

Weekly sessions will emphasize studio skills, marketing, community and networking, and more. Each week will include a "skill 15”: a fifteen-minute presentation on a specific professional practice. Past presentations have focused on writing gallery proposals and verbal presentations. The second half of each meeting will consist of two 30-minute guest interviews. Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions. Previous guest speakers include curators from NYC, gallery owners, and an Emmy award winning director.

ELIGIBLITY:

-Artists working in 2D media

-Professional proficiency in written and spoken English

-based in the Chicagoland area, the US, and beyond. (There will be 8 spots for artists based in Chicago, 2-3 spots for artists based outside the city of Chicago, 2-3 spots open to US artists outside the Chicagoland area, and 3 spots for international artists)

SHOWCASE:

The exhibition will be at The Beverly Arts Center. The Beverly Arts Center is a community art center in the historic Beverly Morgan Park neighborhood. The space is under the direction of Dr. Carla Carter and hosts plays, summer camps, professional productions, and exhibits some of the most successful artists in Chicago.

The mission of the Studio 23 Visiting Artist Program, through selection of an annual visiting artist, is to enhance the experience of art for our community through exposure to a greater diversity of artists, art media, and artistic styles.

Studio 23 is currently accepting applications for our 2023 Visiting Artist. An exhibit of new work created by the selected artist will be held at Studio 23, in Bay City, Michigan, from August 24 to October 21, 2023.

Residency Details

This residency is open to emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplines across New York City. For four months the artists-in-residence will be given a studio in the Quinn Emanuel New York office to support their existing practice or a new project as appropriate.

At the end of the residency an exhibition will be held to display the works of the artist and at least one work will be incorporated into the permanent collection. The exhibition will be held in a location deemed appropriate for the work decided on between the artists and curator.

Residency Period
The residency will begin May 22, 2023 and conclude on August 25, 2023.

Space & Support
The artist-in-residence will have access to an office in a historic building across from Madison Square Park with a vibrant food and drink scene. The office will be available 24/7 and is close to the 6, N, Q, R and W trains.

Compensation
The artist-in-residence will receive $5,000 a month over the course of four months for a total of $20,000. In addition, Quinn Emanuel will provide an allowance of up to $1,500 for purchase of art materials.

Exhibition
After the residency is completed, an exhibition of the work will be mounted in a place decided on with the help of curator Alexis Hyde. Sales of the work will be determined in conversation as well.

The Marietta Cobb Museum of Art in Marietta, GA announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, July 1 - September 3, 2023. First Place: $750, Second Place: $500, Third Place: $250. Juror: Madeline Beck (Curator of MCMA) and an anonymous panel of jurors. Voss Gallery is accepting submissions for "Postcards from Paradise," a juried group exhibition of letter-size paintings celebrating the beauty of our surroundings and how we connect with one another. This opportunity is open to artists based in the United States. A Juror’s Choice Award and two honorable mentions will be selected by guest juror Haylee Barsky, the curator and founder of Visionary Projects in New York, NY.

All artwork must be the exact dimensions 8 x 10 inches (oriented either horizontally or vertically) and may not exceed more than 3 inches off the wall). Accepted mediums include: paintings, drawings, and collages. If the work incorporates textured elements, it may not exceed more than 3 inches from the wall. Artwork must be professionally presented and ready to hang securely on a wall with hanging wire. Any artwork without hanging hardware may not be accepted for exhibition on arrival.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, April 23rd (11:59PM PST). Artists may submit up to three works for consideration. Early bird entry fee is $15 for submissions received before March 19th and $25 for submissions received thereafter through April 23rd. Haylee Barsky is an independent curator and designer based in New York, NY. She is the founder and curator of Visionary Projects, an international art platform, and community established in 2018 to make contemporary art and creativity accessible and inclusive. Haylee received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Photography with a Master’s degree in Art Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, NY, and has worked in the creative departments for Tom Ford, Nylon Magazine, and Moda Operandi, among others.

The Blake School in Hopkins, MN seeks proposals for the McGuire Visiting Artist Residency, 2+ weeks between September 2023 and May 2024. $4,000 to $6,500+ will be awarded. This biennial residency program funds visual artists who collaborate with Blake School K-12 students and faculty.
