This plein air piece was painted along the Lamoille River in Cambridge Vermont out behind the Boyden Farm Winery. While the river was tempting, something about a dirt path leading under a shade tree with the pull of the mountains behind called to me. I like a composition that tells a story and a path always says something about what you might find if you follow it. In this case, I followed it to this painting. The challenge with summer paintings like these is all the greens and making sure you can represent the definition in the foliage and separation with other elements in the picture.
