Painting subjects can often be found in unsuspecting places. In this instance there is a small parking area at the top of a long dirt road at the entrance to a number of trails going up Mount Mansfield in the Green Mountain Forest. A stream runs along past the parking lot, mostly out of view, but you can hear it. A curious mind led me to scramble down and embankment to have a look and quickly led me to this spot where the water spilled over and between some rocks into a pool. The time of year was full foliage season and the painting just jumped out at me. With fallen leaves, rock textures and dense woods, this made the painting quite challenging and equally rewarding.
