“My work is a conjunction of memory with place; two human constructs which inform one another through reflection. The painting serves as a metaphor for how we long for those familiar places deeply woven into the fabric of the landscapes within our minds ... it suggests our roots must be strong before we can be planted again. This was the first painting completed from ‘Transformations,’ a figurative series in oils that juxtaposes the ethereal experiences of individuals within South Dakota spaces. As a nod to Andrew Wyeth, it is both outwardly nostalgic and yet deeply introspective.”
