“I hope this nature print, in which actual plants and insects were inked then pressed into a surface to create a transferred image, evokes a feeling of soft spring breezes in South Dakota. When all the pieces are inked and printed onto the paper, they are hand-colored, usually with an acrylic wash. You will find bleeding heart, violet, dandelion, pasqueflower, wild columbine, a swallowtail butterfly, and a monarch. As in my other nature prints, this piece was printed using oil-based ink, with a color wash of acrylic paint added afterwards. The paper is stained to give the illusion of an aged botanical print.”
