Doris Rudel’s mixed media pieces incorporate fabric and beads to express the idea of friendly relations across diverse cultures and eras, blending South Dakota traditions and her sense of memory and bonds through innovative media and unusual perspectives. Doris was an accomplished fiber artist, painter, and sculptor, but she devoted most of her career to the art of collage, assembling complex pieces from industrial materials, found items from nature. Her work was inspired by visiting 21 countries on five continents, and those experiences were woven into her broad but meticulous creative process.
