My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageThe artwork transforms an open book into both sanctuary and battleground. Suspended within a field of lush botanical patterning, the pages feel simultaneously illuminated and endangered, holding text that describes the erasure of marginalized histories and identities. The decorative background becomes a metaphor for what censorship seeks to overwrite—vibrant, entangled, living knowledge. By framing the book as an exposed specimen, the piece underscores how political actors attempt not just to restrict education but to determine whose narratives are allowed to flourish and whose are forced into silence.
