My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageThe artwork transforms an open book into both sanctuary and battleground. Suspended within a field of lush botanical patterning, the pages appear both illuminated and exposed, holding text that describes the erasure of marginalized histories and identities. The decorative background becomes a metaphor for what censorship seeks to overwrite: vibrant, entangled, living knowledge.
Framed as an exposed specimen, the book underscores how political forces attempt not only to restrict education but to determine which narratives are allowed to flourish and which are pushed into silence.
