"Strong Roots Beneath Our Feet" explores the value of strong, deep roots as a physical asset for trees and a cultural asset for humans. These roots are literally "beneath our feet" as we walk past a tree, and symbolically as we stand on the shoulders of those who came before.

The brass gilding in this piece is an alloy that will age over many years. The effect is intentional to reflect the passage of time towards acquiring strong roots.
