"Limestone and Lucite Graphic Figure" is an early work from 1992, placing it among Antar's first explorations of what would become her Expressions in Stone series. Carved from limestone and wonderstone with lucite, the piece strips the human form to its most essential gesture - solid stone for the body's weight and presence, lucite introducing light and transparency where opacity might otherwise close the figure off. It is a portrait of a self still becoming legible, rendered in materials that ask the same question: what do we show, and what do we let through.
