MessageCollection: Conversations
The Conversations series is part of Robin Antar's Expressions in Stone collection, an expressionist body of work that explores the complexities of human relationships through the language of form. Created during the early years of her sculptural career, these works use contrasting shapes, colors, and spatial relationships to represent communication, conflict, collaboration, and understanding between individuals. Some figures lean toward one another in dialogue, while others embody tension, distance, or balance. Drawing from personal experiences and observations of human nature, Antar transforms stone into a visual metaphor for the conversations that shape our lives—from friendships and family relationships to partnerships and social dynamics. Through simplified yet expressive forms, the series invites viewers to reflect on how people connect, disagree, support one another, and ultimately find common ground. As a counterpart to her Realism in Stone series, Expressions in Stone focuses on the emotional and psychological dimensions of human experience rather than the objects and symbols of contemporary culture.
