Robin Antar’s Sketchers Boot marks the beginning of her celebrated Realism in Stone series. Created in 1993, the sculpture was inspired by a suggestion from her late son Leon, who encouraged her to carve a sneaker. Shortly afterward, Robin encountered Sketchers work boots at a fundraiser and was inspired to contact the company with images of the finished piece. Within minutes of receiving her fax, Sketchers responded with interest and ultimately acquired the sculpture. Carved from a solid block of limestone and stained with oil, Sketchers Boot transforms an everyday work boot into a tribute to American labor and craftsmanship while serving as the catalyst for a body of work that would grow to include Robin’s iconic stone recreations of consumer products and cultural touchstones.
This series of American-made work boots is a symbolic tribute to the American spirit that built this country and still makes it great today. This piece is carved out of a solid block of Limestone and stained with oil stains. Dimensions: 6.5"h X 11.5"w X 4.5"d.
