I love painting dynamic clouds using heavily textured oils to suggest motion and energy. In this miniature skyscape, the cloud is transparent, with hints of color showing through the ever-changing vaporous mountain in the sky. In a miniature, every stroke counts, so I painted from the shoulder to make every stroke lively and directional. On another level, painting rapidly building clouds like this one makes me feel like a child bursting at the seams with restless energy begging to be expended.
