Sincere emerged through reduction rather than addition. As I worked, I experimented with colour, texture, and layers of mixed media. Over time, the surface grew more complex — and the painting grew quieter in the wrong way, losing its sense of clarity.
Stepping back, I realized the work didn’t need more information. It needed less. A lighter touch and a limited palette allowed the painting to breathe again.
In that restraint, the flowers found their way forward — simple, open, and present. The piece became a reminder that what we’re often searching for isn’t hidden by lack, but by excess. When the noise falls away, what matters can finally be seen.
