Let's Paint Flowers grew out of a spontaneous request while I was teaching an abstract painting class. Partway through the lesson, the students asked, “Can we try painting abstract flowers?” We had been exploring different techniques and working with limited palettes, so I decided to build on what I had demonstrated. I brought in a vase of wildflowers, and with their loose, untamed shapes in front of us, I began with a quick sketch to capture their energy. From there, I layered in color—filling spaces, blending, glazing—and eventually drew back over the surface to define the forms. The result is this bright, joyful piece that carries the spirit of that shared creative curiosity.
It's sealed with protective varnish and ships in a white washed wooden frame.
