Gratitude series 4
This painting grew out of an action-packed day in New Orleans with my husband and daughter — music spilling into the streets, joyful crowds gathered for the po’boy fest, the kind of energy that makes the whole city feel alive. By late afternoon we slipped away to Audubon Park, letting the noise fade behind us. We found a quiet spot by the water where everything finally softened — the breeze, the light, even our own breathing.
Sitting there with my husband and daughter, watching the afternoon sun glisten through the trees, I felt that familiar swell of gratitude. After all the action (and eating!) this gentle pause was the moment that stayed with me. Painting it is my way of saying thank you — for family, for sunlight on water, and for the simple gift of slowing down together.
Oil on linen with painted wrap around sides, unframed.
