Suspension Study No. 3 is part of Jonas Merrill’s ongoing exploration of forms that appear to hover between solid and liquid states. Cast in fiberglass and coated with a high-gloss resin, the work is mounted directly to the wall, creating the illusion of a shape pushing outward from within the architecture itself. The smooth, undulating surface reflects ambient light in shifting highlights, emphasizing its fluid contours. The form invites both visual and tactile engagement, suggesting a hybrid between industrial design and organic growth. Merrill’s work often plays with the tension between permanence and movement, here capturing a moment of flow as if it had been suddenly stilled.
